My condolences to the family
Nick, Jack, and my younger brother Nels used to play a wild brand of hockey up on Sandy Baird’s duck pond almost 70 years ago: also other sports on Major Abbott’s field on Freshwater Road. Nick was a great buddy, although I’ve lost track of him over the years. May God rest his soul in peace.

Gail, Derrick, Dwight, Keith and family, We are so sorry to hear of Nick’s passing. He was a great neighbor and family friend for most of my lifetime. His kindness to Mom and Dad in their final years will never be forgotten. He was always quick with a smile and friendly conversation. He is now at rest with your mother. We can’t visit in person but you are in our thoughts and prayers. All our love, Marg & Jerry

To: Nick’s wonderful Family
On behalf of all the former residents of # 9 Smith Avenue ( Starkes, Williams, & Heffernans ) we want to express our sinceerest sympathies to the French family on the passing of Nick. The kindness and support that Nick showed to us all can only be described as unbelieveable. He was the essance of a Christian and we considered him the Mayor of Smith Avenue. We will miss him terribly , however we are consoled in knowing that we and his family will carry on the great examples he set for us. RIP Nick, you have fought the great fight.
