Obituary
Passed suddenly but peacefully away at home on May 28, 2026, Richard (Rick) Somerton, aged 67 years of Portugal Cove.
Predeceased by his parents Phillip & Catherine Somerton; sisters Christine Churchill, Irene Harding, & Nancy Somerton & nephews Gregory Miller & Rodney Miller & brother-in-law James Duff.
Leaving behind with loving memories sister Diane Miller; brother Wayne (Maxine) Somerton; brothers-in-law Aubrey Harding & Doc Churchill; nieces Catherine Somerton (Justin), Wendy Somerton (Tyson), and Crystal Harding; nephews, Eddie Miller, Phillip Churchill, Brady Miller (mother-Melissa), Spencer, Sebastian, Slader, Sklyer and Sierra; and a circle of other relatives and friends.
He is now at peace and in the heavenly embrace of family he has missed so much.
Cremation has taken place.
At his request there will not be any visitation or a service.

Mr. Somerton drove the bus for me in high school about 20 years ago. He was a extremely friendly and i often found myself walking around st.philips when a little turcel would pull up and his kind smile offered a ride. my sincere condolences on your loss

Dear Somerton Family:
So sorry to hear about Rick. So many memories came flooding back of Roncalli School and the yellow bus…not sure if those memories were good or bad, but Rick would smile and laugh if I ever brought it up. It’s always good to keep in mind that death is not the end of the line, but is more like the beginning. If you take God at his word, He said that the meek would inherit the earth forever, Psalms 37:29. Also, Acts 24:15 tells us about a future resurrection where all those who fell asleep in death would be brought back to life and reunited with family and friends. Revelation 21:4 states we will no longer experience harm, hardship or death when the government of Christ (thy kingdom come) takes over the day to day affairs of the earth and implementation of a complete restoration of the miserable world and conditions we live in today. But for now, rest in peace Rick and hope to see you someday in paradise.
