Obituary
Passed peacefully away at the age of 93. Born in Woodstock, NB, son of the late Arthur and Jessie (Tweedie) Everett. He was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy and is survived by his two daughters Heather (Bernard) Martin and Brenda Everett of Toronto. He is also predeceased by his brother Thomas and sister Helen Colpitts.
He joined the Royal Bank of Canada in 1950 and his 41 year career included a number of roles in the Atlantic Provinces and Montreal. He was Regional Manager in Newfoundland and Labrador from 1976-1987 and retired from the Bank in 1991 in Dartmouth NS where he was the Manager and Area Manager for a number of branches.
Over the years wherever Red located he was active in community activities and service clubs. He enjoyed sports and was a member of the Brightwood Golf and Country Club, Dartmouth and Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club (Past President), St John’s. He was an honorary member of the Austenville Owls Club in Dartmouth which he enjoyed many a great event with friends.
Red and Dot enjoyed their treks each year to Florida with their golfing buddies which resulted in many great memories. Red also
Red made great friends wherever he went, too many to mention but please know that you all made a significant impact on his life. Thank you.
His wife Dorothy passed away in 2017 and in 2021 he relocated back to St. John’s NL and moved into Tiffany Village Retirement Residence. He enjoyed his home here and it was due in large to the staff and management of Tiffany Village. We as a family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, the personal care teams and staff. Thank you for the kindness and your unwavering support.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Heather and Brenda, so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. Dennis and I spent many winters in Florida playing golf and socializing with your mother and father. They were wonderful people.
Heather and family, my thoughts have been with you since we last spoke at Tiffany. I ran into your dad probably about 18 months ago when I was at Tiffany visiting my Aunt. I saw this man sitting reading the paper and he looked like he was still in Regional office back in the late 70’s to late 80’s. I started visiting Mr Everett when I dropped in to see my Aunt weekly, when he wasn’t too busy doing something else of coarse. He was quick to say, call me Red. We had a few games of crib, shared a couple of beers, and we had some nice chats about so many topics. Of coarse, my dad, who passed in 1998, worked with Red for about 10 years, and our conversation was extensive on topics, but RBC and my dad and him came up often and I was delighted to talk to someone that knew my dad so well, and I told him that. He too enjoyed telling me those stories with some great laughter from him. Those stories were a great gift to me and I am so glad I was able to connect with a man that my father held in such high regards.. He was always Mr Everett for so many years, but I was honoured to be able to call him Red, and a friend after I found him at Tiffany 18 months ago. I dropped into Tiffany yesterday as usual and I saw the notice in the front lobby. I was glad I had made my visit the previious Sunday to say goodbye. Please know, my thoughts are with you all during this time. Your dad lived well, had great humour, was kind and was a real inspiration to so many people throughout his life. He will be missed by so many.

Sadly, we extend our sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved Dad. Red was known and regarded as a consummate banker who set high standards for those of us who were fortunate enough to have worked for him and with him in the banking sector over the years.
We fondly recall the many get togethers hosted by him and your Mom at their home on Parliament Street and we will never forget their invitation to the annual shareholders meeting.

Condolences Brenda and Heather. Red and Dot lived next door to my mother, Joan Penney, on the corner of Ottawa and Parliament. They were good neighbours. Very sad to hear they are gone.
