Robert Preston Young

November 23, 1943 to May 31, 2023

Obituary

On May 31, 2023 our Dad took his last breath on this earth.  To the world Dad was just one man but to us our Dad was the world. Dad was a professional truck driver for over 40 years, affectionately known by his loyal customers for his 30+ years as the EGG MAN and then as a driver with Armour Transport where he thoroughly enjoyed working (thank you to the staff and management, he enjoyed working with you all!). Dad was a Jack of ALL trades and was never shy of trying to fix anything, he always said, “If a man made it, a man can fix It!”

Robert Preston Young was the last surviving child of James and Rose Young. He leaves to mourn with broken hearts, fond memories and his great work ethic, Robert (Wanda), Roger (Wanda), David (Cathy), Steve (Kim) and the mother of his 4 proud sons Bride Young along with his special friend Terry Reddy, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Since 2018 we have met some incredible nurses, doctors, and support staff at Eastern Health, and although we would like to acknowledge each personally, there would be too many to mention. We thank each and every one of you for your professionalism and the great care you gave our father.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, June 2 from 3-9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 3 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad’s memory may be made to VOWR radio station http://www.vowr.org/donations.html

It is with our deepest condolences to Steve, Kim ,Georgia, Brooklynn and Stevie, Roger and family, Dave and family and the Young families to hear with great sadness the passing of your father and grandfather. I knew Bob from long ago from my time at Coopers , unloaded the eggs many times and I will say the weather was never able to challenge him the challenge was always the other way. He was a very humble, gentle individual who I respected. Our conversations were pleasant and I always strived to get him on his way. As time went on I got to know Bob personally outside of work and discovered his many talents. These are my memories of him and for you guys hold onto yours, I’m sure there are many. Please know all of you are in our thoughts through this difficult time.

We had lots of wonderful chats about life while giving us the opportunity to help him archive his family pictures and poems. Our interactions always gave us the sense of a wonderful, thoughtful and caring person .He has touched our hearts. We wish all the Young family the very best.
