Robin Elizabeth Kenny (nee Kuehn)

May 18, 1962 to March 17, 2021

Obituary

It is with fragile hearts that we announce the passing of the ever-loved Robin Elizabeth Kenny (nee Kuehn). Beginning her trip of a lifetime earlier than anticipated (aged 58), she departed peacefully in true Robin fashion, during the early hours of St. Patrick’s Day (we all know that she loved to celebrate). At home surrounded by her mother, Sally Clouston Johnson, and daughters, Hannah Maggie and Leah Holly, it is safe to say that she was sent off with love. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, throughout the years Robin made her way to St. John’s, touching the lives of each person she encountered along the way. As her sister Deanna said, “Robin loved with her whole heart, gave the best hugs, and could out-laugh anyone.” Robin has called many places “home” throughout her lifetime, and will be missed by many world-wide. Notability, in Halifax she leaves behind her brothers John Richard (Rosemary) Kuehn and David (Heather) Johnson; nieces Beth (Steven), Sarah and Laura; nephews Peter and Ben. Throughout the rest of Canada, she leaves behind her brother Darroch Johnson; sister Lois (Robert) Dejardins; aunt Donna Clouston; uncle Peter (Pearl) Clouston; nephews James, Paul (Natasha) and Chris; niece Alexis. South of the border, Robin leaves behind her father John Carl (Juanita) Kuehn; brothers Mike (Jennifer) Kuehn and Tim (Heidi) Kuehn; sister Deanna (Cris) Duncan; aunt Sylvia (Robert) Bean; uncles Edwin Kuehn and Richard Kuehn; nieces Elizabeth and Ashley; nephews Dylan, Keegan and Karter. Robin also leaves behind cousins all over, notability Cindy Clouston, Donald Clouston, Robert Bean, Laura Yu, and Christina Bean. She leaves behind many special friends; her best friends and kindred spirits, Joseph Bourgeois and Paula Giovannini; good friends Roma Robinson, Peter Ivany, Phonse Barry and Tim Froude. Robin is predeceased by her step-father Paul Johnson, sister Heather Johnson and niece Dianna Johnson. Thank-you to all of the health-care professionals who assisted Robin and her family throughout the course of her illness. Although the COVID-19 pandemic prevents us from currently gathering, it is our hopes that sometime soon we will be able to properly celebrate her life. In honour of Robin, you can buy yourself a pair of shoes (in every colour if you really like them), dance around your kitchen to ABBA, or donate to Pancreatic Cancer Canada (PCC).

Deepest heartfelt condolences to her family, especially her girls. Robin left her mark on all those she met. We shared an office wall and so much more. Tea and chocolate flowed freely. Her laughter was beautiful, her hugs amazing, and her eyes full of passion for life. I still have a pair of Robin’s shoes, I’ll take them for a dance in her honour. Rest softly my friend.

Hannah, Leah, her Mom and her large and much loved family, may you find comfort and peace in your memories of Robin and may her light continue to shine in each of you. Rest in peace sweet Lady.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Robin’s passing. I had the pleasure to work with her through collaborative training courses delivered through the CLD. She was professional and tackled every work challenge head on, without hestitation. But most of all Robin had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh, loved life and was a friend. She always tried to see the good in everyone and the positive in every situation. My deepest condolences go out to Robin’s family. RIP Robin.

Robin left a Mark on my heart. I have been reflecting on our short time together at Halifax West High School. She changed my life in many ways for the better always. I am grateful for our few short Facebook exchanges knowing she was happy and loved. God speed my friend until we meet again.

My deepest condolences on the loss of such an amazing woman. I got to know Robin through work at GNL. She was such a bright, articulate, warm and inviting person. I was also fortunate enough to share many gut busting laughs with Robin. I will definitely buy those shoes and dance to Abba in her honour. May you find comfort in your memories.

I am sending heartfelt condolences to her family and colleagues at the CLD. May God guide you through this sad time and may your happy memories of Robin give you comfort.

Hannah, Leah and Family. I knew Robin from my time working with the provincial government. I just remember how full of life, fun, down to earth and open she was. Always up for a lunchtime walk or to share a story. The last time I saw her we shared a great laugh about her thinking of me every time she saw an old coffee stain on the wall from a mishap I had one morning years before. My heart is with you all and sending my sincere condolences. She was a beautiful person.

I am so shocked to hear of Robin’s passing. I worked with Robin at the CLD for a number of years. She was such a pleasure to work with and, yes, she gave the biggest and most heartfelt hugs. She was always there to help the new person around the office as she was very knowledgeable of government processes. Robin was so dedicated to her work but even more so to her daughters. There were always stories shared of Hannah, Leah and her Mom whom you knew were #1 in her life. Please accept my sincere condolences! Robin will be missed by many.

Robin had a kind gentle spirit and an infectious laugh. She will be missed. Condolences to her family and close friends.

Robin, you were not only an employee of the CLD, you were part of its identity. I had the pleasure and honour of calling you my co-worker and friend for more than 11 years. You will be remembered, and you will have a place in my heart and in my memories. I extend my condolences to Hannah and Leah, to your mom and to your entire family. I will miss you dearly.

Sally and family…….I was so sorry to hear of Robin’s passing. I only worked with Robin for a short period of time, but she was one of those people you felt immediately comfortable with and felt like you knew her forever. May you feel comfort and peace as you face this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to Robin’s family. I worked with Robin for several years at the CLD. She was wonderful to work with and a great mentor. Cherish your memories as they will get you through this most difficult time.

I have many fond memories of working with Robyn over the years. I am sad to hear of her passing. She will be remembered by many “up on the hill” for her laughter, smile and eagerness to help.. My condolences to her mother and daughters.

To Robin’s Mother, Daughters and Family….Sending you all thoughts of peace and courage. As you think of Robin through the laughter and tears in the upcoming weeks and months, I will be thinking of all of you. I worked with Robin for a stint in government , and we would often rush to each other to show off our most recent purchases…. especially … new shoes, or bags. I more recently, meet Robin walking the trails around St. John’s, always, always with the most pleasant, gentle and sincere smile, and she would joke she was on her way home to change from her sneakers to her fancy patent leather heels! She was a delight.
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. Jill

Oh Sally I am so sorry to hear this news. My heart breaks for you and your family. I’m sure the love and joy Robin shared will always be with you all. Hugs and take care.

Dear Sally, my heart broke for you when I read Robin’s obituary in today’s paper. I can’t imagine your heartbreak as children are supposed to outlive their parents. I’m sure you have many good friends & family who will be there for you and help you through this very difficult time. I’m only a phone call away should you ever want to talk. Take care .

Hannah, Leah, and Robin’s mom, I cannot adequately express how very sorry I am for your loss. I worked with Robin at the Centre for Learning and Development. She was one of the finest people I ever had the pleasure to work with. I admired her, and I learned so much from her. I can still see her arriving at work in the mornings, always smiling, and always looking beautiful in one of her many beautiful outfits and of course, footwear to match. Robin was a beautiful person inside and out, who loved her family so very much. I will remember her always, and I will buy a pair shoes in her honor. And wherever she is now, maybe she is walking her dogs (wearing the most fashionable footwear) and smiling down on you.

My deepest condolences Sally and to all your family on the passing of Robin. Rest In Peace Robin. Hugs to you Sally..

To Sally and all of Robin’s family my deepest sympathy on the loss of Robin. From what I have read and heard about her she has left all of you a lifetime of wonderful memories to help you through this. May she RIP.

Sweetheart, it was less than a year, but our bond was so very strong…..I will miss everything about you. Please find a good spot with a view on your favourite trail, and save a seat for me. Until we meet again my love.
Forever in my heart, Tim

Deepest sympathy to you Sally and your family on the passing of your daughter Robin. You are in our prayers and thoughts at this most difficult time.
Biddy OKeefe,

I can’t begin to express the sadness I felt when I learned of Robins’s passing. I first met her when she worked with me on a project with the PSC. We quickly became friends and would always make sure our working trips included lovely suppers – we both loved good food – and shopping excursions to find the perfect food wear.

Robin brought so much passion to all aspects of her life. We shared stories of our families and she always would light up when she spoke about her daughters Hannah and Leah. Robin was committed to family and shared a beautiful relationship with her mother – a woman who she also called her friend.

I so loved her energy, her laughter and mostly her warmth.

Leah and Family,

So sorry for your loss. Your mom always had a smile on her face every time we saw her. Take care of each other.

Cynthia and Dermot Kelly

Robin was a very special person. A joy to all that had the privilege to know her. She will be missed. I wish we could be there to support Sally and the rest of the family at this time.

I cannot begin to express my sorrow at reading this obituary. I remember all those winters when we skied at Marble Mountain and did après ski at the wonderful old lodge. We danced until the floor boards shook, and Robin was front and centre of the festivities with her inimitable joie de vivre. Rest in peace, sweet soul. Godspeed.

Sally, so sorry for your loss. I know how much you loved your girls. Enjoy all the beautiful memories.

Sally, so sorry for your loss. I know how much you loved your girls. Enjoy all the beautiful memories.

Oh Sally. So very sorry to hear this. Such a lovely, brilliant woman. My prayers go out for you and your family during this sad time. Hugs, Mary

I worked with Robin for 9 years at the Centre for Learning and Development. Her ready smile, extensive knowledge, willingness to help and sense of humor will certainly be missed. I called her our office MacGuyver as she had anything you could ever possibly need, could fix anything and she knew about every government dept. and how to get things done. We all went to Robin for everything and we will miss her kindness and friendship. May your memories bring you peace at this difficult time. Robin’s light and life will shine on forever through everyone she touched.

I remember the first day that I met Robin. We had both been hired by the Centre for Learning and Development in 2006. She was wearing a bright green blazer and I felt drab next to her! She was so passionate about her work, but even more passionate about her family, especially her dear mom and Hannah and Leah. I have many fond memories of good chats, walks, and laughs. She will be dearly missed.

Robin was certainly a presence in the workplace. Wherever she went, she would greet you with much spirit and warmth. While focused on the task at hand, she always made time for her co-workers, and she will be forever cherished in our memories.
