Ronald George Casey

May 2, 1935 to December 18, 2019

Obituary

Passed peacefully away at age 84 years at the Health Sciences surrounded by his loving family who had the time to say their final goodbyes.

Ronald was born in St. John’s and was the son of the late William James and Stella Casey who raised a large loving family of seven brothers and sisters including the late Peter Casey, Bill Casey and survived by Carmel (McDonald), Eileen (Tucker), Brenda (Grouchy), Maureen Casey and Jim (Maureen) Casey.

He went to school at Holy Cross and played baseball for many years becoming a major fan of the game and loved seeing the Blue Jays and Yankees play in Florida. He spent a long career in the building supply business and was an early active member of the Canadian Home Builders Association (NL Chapter) and was a proud member for many years of the St John’s Regatta Committee.

Ron was always ‘young at heart’ and had a quirky sense of humor that quickly made him friends with so many.  As a father, husband, brother and Grandfather of 8 children his charm and laughter will be missed by all of them. He leaves a lifetime of memories by his wife of 63 years Eleanor (Healey) Casey. Sons Ken, Karen (Dave Kennedy), Keith and Kevin (Linda) and Cathy Casey.  Joined with them are 8 Grandchildren Kyle (Berit), Kolin, Keelin (Trevor), Grant, Steven, Olivia, Ryan and Ava.

Special thank you for the incredibly hard-working and dedicated team of doctors and nurses on 4 South A of the Health Sciences.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday December 19th 7-9 pm and Friday December 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday December 21st, 2019 at 1 pm with a private family interment to follow at a later date.

Flowers gratefully accepted or because Ron loved people and family so much, he would love donations to The Gathering Place or the Ronald McDonald House which both do remarkable work in the community.
