Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on Friday, September 25th, 2020. Ross Churchill, aged 80 years.

Predeceased by his parents George and Edith Churchill; brothers Reg, Cyril, Shel, and Wes; and by his sisters Mabel and Gertie.

Leaving to mourn his wife of 56 years Sonia Churchill (nee Earle); son Jeff (Elizabeth) Churchill; brother Jim (Ruth) Churchill and sister Rita Melendy. Also leaving to mourn special friends Guy and Margaret Penney, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Following COVID-19 restrictions, visitation will take place from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday September 29th.  Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, September 30th at 2 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel.  Inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Bauline Line.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Parkinson Canada or a charity of one’s choice.

Mr. C was a wonderful person. He always treated people kindly and with respect. A true gentleman. Ross was the Master of Ceremonies at our wedding. He was always there to provide sound advice or his thoughtful opinion when asked. Sherry, Joshua and I were so lucky to have known him. We have wonderful memories of him both at his home in Portugal Cove and also at the cabin. The world has lost a wonderful human being. We are so grateful to have known him.

I will always remember my Dad telling the story of how when he returned from overseas at the end of WW11 , Uncle Ross didn’t know him and called him “ “ the man”.
It didn’t take long though for that brotherly bond to form.
