Obituary
It is with many tears and the deepest sadness in our hearts that the family of Ruby Mackey announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her family at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Leonard A Miller Centre on July 27, 2021. Pre-deceased by her parents Thomas and Viola Evans and brothers Douglas, Don and Stan Evans.
Leaving to mourn with many fond years of memories are her husband Ronald Mackey, daughter Wanda Smith (David), son Jeff Mackey (Krista) and her very cherished grandchildren Stephanie, Courtney, Sarah, Daniella and Michael. Also, being left with cherished memories are sister Marion Burry who has been by her side through this very long journey, sister Doris Squires and brothers Ed, Robert and Jerry Evans and a very large circle of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
A very heartfelt thank you to the staff of the palliative care unit at the Miller Centre for all the wonderful care and compassion shown to mom in her final days.
Visitation to take place on Friday July 30th, 2021 from 10am-5pm at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. A small gathering to celebrate Ruby’s life will take place Saturday July 31st, 2021 at 11 am from the Carnell Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada.

Take comfort in your that Ruby is with the angels in heaven. I will remember my cousin Ruby for being a beautiful woman inside and out. Very soft spoken, so gentle, a beautiful smile and loved to walk.
Marian thank you so much for our chat. It meant so much to me as I know how busy you have been. Your family has been through a lot this year.

My heart goes out to Ruby’s family. I have many fond memories of late nights on Watson Street. She was truly a great person. My condolences to everyone. Ruby, you will be missed.

Tho I only knew Ruby for a short period of time, I very much enjoyed keeping her company and caring for her. Take peace in knowing she is at rest and was surrounded by Love at her passing. My sincerest condolences to Wanda and Jeff and all of her family.

So sorry to read about the passing of Ruby. She was a lovely gentle lady and a great neighbor who we lived next door to for 6 years on Watson Street. Back in the mid to late 1990’s.
Our daughters looked forward to popsicles and warm summer days and her friendly hellos.
