Sean Francis Moakler passed peacefully away, surrounded by the love of his family, following a short illness, on Wednesday, September 3.
Predeceased by his parents, Sheila & Hubert Moakler, parents-in-law Phyllis & Jack Janes, Aunts Mary Jardine and Dorothy Jardine.
He will be forever loved and remembered by his best friend and wife, Candace; and his pride and joy, daughter, Lauren (Travis); collectively known as “his girls”.
Also leaving to mourn his brother, Bob (Rose) and nephews Michael and Edward (Kendelle); Brother Jeff; Sister, Anne Feehan (Don), nephew Colin (Natasha); and Robyn (David); Sister, Moya Dawe (Norman), nephew Joseph, and niece Jennifer. As well as a large circle of cherished friends, both near and far.
Sean lived life to the fullest; he enjoyed good conversation, travelling, golfing (hole-in-one 13th hole, The Wilds), mastering his BBQ & cooking skills, convertible runs, his home, and garden. He loved to open his home to friends, old and new, where a warm welcome and genuine smile always awaited; over the years, many happy hours were spent around the dining room table, where there was food and laughter in abundance, the sharing of stories, some great debates, and lifetime friendships. Sean was genuine and called things as he saw them – you never needed to wonder what his feelings were on any given matter, particularly politics! He had a way of offering an opinion, sharing a joke, or simply being present in a way that made every moment better. At the root of all of this was his family – his greatest love. He and Candace shared 38 years of marriage; while appearing opposites in some ways, together they created a beautiful balance. They were a true team in every sense – supportive, steady, and inseparable – true soulmates. His proudest role was that of Dad to Lauren, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond filled with love, pride, and deep admiration. He cherished every moment and conversation with her.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Sunday, September 7 from 2:00 – 9:00; on Monday, September 8 from 12 noon – 5:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service & Celebration of Life on Tuesday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church in Torbay. Flowers are welcome or a donation may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

…I worked with Sean at Tip Top while at MUN……on every shift and every shift, he would say some story, some joke or some prank. Laughter was part of Sean…and so was people, family and children. Quick witted and funny….never a dull moment…gone but never forgotten…
