Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Maureen Westcott has entered eternal peace. She passed with elegance and dignity surrounded by her loving family and her wonderful care providers at Glenbrook Lodge where she spent the last 10 years of her life receiving the kindest care.

She will be forever remembered by her very favorite person, her devoted son Derrick Squires, and his wife Madeline Squires; loving grandchildren Nicole Hurley (Christian) and Adam Squires (Ashley); sweetest great-grandchildren Sam and Nora Hurley. Special niece and goddaughter Fern Somerton who kept her in good company over the years. Countless very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and extended family and friends from days gone by.

Maureen was predeceased far too soon by her first love Benjamin Squires (1957); second husband Alex Westcott (2003), her beautiful parents Eliza and William Bradbury, her siblings Gordon (Catherine), Stella (Ralph), Vera (Manuel). Also special mention to all of her furry family she loved so dearly over the years: Eddie, Baby, Ranger, Rover, Toby, Emma, Brownie and a well-loved goat named Vicky.

Maureen was the happiest twacking around town with her sister Vera, foolishly pointing out all the funny characters along their adventures; making home-cooked meals for her family, baking sweet treats and spending time in the outdoors.

We will gratefully accept any flowers as Maureen loved them, or a donation to the SPCA in honor of her love for animals.

Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday, December 19th from 2 – 4 PM & 7 – 9PM and Friday, December 20th from 10AM – 12PM.

The funeral will he held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday December 20th at 1PM.

It’s been more than a long long time
Since I held you and called you mine
And we waited for the sun to shine
On a grey foggy day
