Obituary

Shan-Marie Edwards (nee Maher)

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Shan-Marie, known by many as Shannie, who passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022.

She is survived by her children Charlotte (Ryan) and Bill (Connie), her sisters Edwina (Gerry) and Janet (Gerry), her brothers Frank (Theresa) and Charlie (Susan), nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends. A special note of dearest friends Gillian Warrick and Debbie Hayes. She is pre-deceased by parents Frank and Margaret Maher, and sister, affectionately known as “Little Mona”.

Shannie would make friends wherever she would go and always remembered a smiling face, whether it was someone from choir from her younger years through the Our Lady of Mercy Glee Club, or in later years in her work as a Nurse. She could not go anywhere without running into someone she knew and would love to stop and have a chat. She cherished all her relationships and regularly reminisced of happy memories she made with friends and family members. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

My deepest condolences to your family. I have very fond memories of Shannie from Our Lady of Mercy, Brownies, in later years from Nursing we both graduated in 1975 Shannie from St Clare’s and me from the General. Our daughters were in JA together. Frequently bumping into one another at the supermarket. Shannie was a delightful person always smiling. She will truly be missed.

Shannie was friends with my sister Gillian since their early school days. I remember Shannie best for her wise sayings, funny stories and the running jokes she would repeat when we met. Her fun sense of humour and her pleasant smile will stay in our memory.

Deepest sympathy to Shannie’s Family. Shannie was a lovely person , we go way back to grade school and Our Lady of Mercy Glee Club. A mother’s love is always with her children. Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. Her goodness, her caring and her wisdom lives on like a legacy of love that will always be with you. May that love surround you now and bring you peace.

Shannie and I spent a year together living in Europe and had wonderful adventures together. She was my bridesmaid at my wedding . Living in Ontario meant we didn’t see each other very often but we stayed in touch .
