It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen John James Wiseman announce his passing. Leaving to mourn with precious memories is his loving wife of 35 years Cheryl, sons – Dustin, Aaron (Brittany), daughter – Rachel (Stephen Kettle), grandson Theodore (Teddy), brothers:  Terry (Carol Ann) and Ken (Sandy), mother-in-law Evelyn Greene, and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents: Chesley and Mildred Wiseman, father-in-law Joseph Greene.

Stephen was born July 15th, 1959, to Mildred and Chesley Wiseman. He was the first of three miracle babies. Stephen had many fond memories of his childhood, with his family and church family. When he was 24, he met the love of his life, Cheryl. Shortly after, he rededicated his life to the Lord while dating Cheryl. They married in the spring of 1988 and had three beautiful children whom he loved and adored. He was very proud of not only his children’s accomplishments, but for the wonderful, loving adults they have become.

Stephen’s heart was to serve, he felt called to the ministry. He always ministered in whatever opportunities presented, singing with the Lidstone brothers was a highlight. He also did some prison ministry, services at the Waterford hospital, taught Sunday School, and in later years, services at Hillcrest seniors home. Stephen was always willing to help, speaking and playing music whenever needed.

In 2004, Stephen was delighted to enter full time ministry, as the pastor of Ecclesia Pentecostal Church in Bunyan’s Cove, under the PAONL. After a number of years, he continued his ministry with a small local congregation under Elim Fellowship of Canada – he did all this while working full time in contracting.

He had plans for retirement but would never retire from ministry. His heart was to reach the lost and help in whatever way he could in the Lord’s work.

Although Stephen was taken so suddenly, we put our hope and trust in the Lord, and feel so blessed to have had a wonderful and caring husband and father in our lives. He loved his wife and children dearly. It is a great loss. Our great hope and peace at this  time is knowing Stephen is now in the presence of his Lord and Saviour in heaven, and that one day, we will meet again.

The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral, 329 Freshwater Road, Tuesday March 28 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at Park Avenue, Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, March 29 at 10am. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Please click HERE to find the link.

Such a shock to hear of Stephen’s passing. He was the epitome of a gentleman, wearing his concern for others and thoughtfulness on his sleeve. While I didn’t know Stephen as a minister, I saw first hand his gentle approach to life and his giving nature. Stephen did amazing carpentry work at our home and everything he did was impeccable. He will be missed, always. Sending our thoughts and prayers to all the Wiseman family. Marian and Beni Malone

Patsy and I were saddened to hear of Stephen’s unexpected passing. My first memory of Stephen was seeing and hearing him sing, and play his left-handed guitar, with the Lidstone brothers. You didn’t have to be around Stephen very long before you recognized his passion for ministry. He loved the Lord and certainly wasn’t ashamed to be seen with his Bible clutched under his arm. I thoroughly enjoyed his worship leading at the Men’s Thursday Evening Prayer Meetings at PAPC as well as our conversations from time to time. Stephen had a positive impact on all those in his circle of influence and will be greatly missed.
You are in our thoughts and prayers,
Dennis & Patsy

Cheryl, Dustin, Aaron and Rachel,
Our hearts are broken for the loss of your dear husband and dad. Steve was an incredible man and we have great memories of many song services or a special singing led by him – always with a mini sermon and personal testimony! And on top of that there was always a friendly chat and warm greeting whenever we met up. It was so nice to have recently had opportunity to speak to him again. His passion for Christ was evident in any conversation. We will miss him.
