Obituary

Mr. Surendra Prasad [Sundly]

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend, Mr. Surendra Prasad [Sundly], who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 67 in St. John’s, NL.

Mr. Sundly was a man of unwavering dedication, integrity, and compassion. Through hard work, perseverance, and selfless sacrifice, he devoted his life to providing for and nurturing his family. Above all else, he believed that education, strong moral values, and family unity were the greatest gifts a parent could give to their children.

Together with his beloved wife, Darshani, he raised four children with love, discipline, and strong ethical values. His lifelong commitment to education inspired his eldest son, Dr. Amit Sundly, who became the first member of the Sundly family to earn a Ph.D. – an achievement that filled Mr. Sundly with immense pride. Yet his greatest accomplishments were never measured by titles or possessions, but by the character, kindness, and values he instilled in each of his four children.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Darshani; his sons, Amit and Shurabh; his daughters, Jyoti and Pooja; his daughters-in-law, Richa and Yogita; his son-in-law, Harish; and his cherished grandchildren, Khyati, Aditri, and Anya, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Rameshwar and Anil; his sisters, Sureshi and Rameshwari; the extended Sundly family; and countless relatives, friends, neighbours, and colleagues in both India and Canada.

A devoted family man, Mr. Sundly was the pillar who held his family together. He firmly believed in the strength of togetherness and lived by the principle, “United we stand, divided we fall.” His home was a place of love, encouragement, and unwavering support, where family always came first. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the enduring bonds he helped create.

Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we are forever grateful for the years we were blessed to share with him. His love, guidance, wisdom, and quiet strength will continue to inspire us every day. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, humility, integrity, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

“The measure of a man’s life is not the years he lived, but the lives he touched, the values he passed on, and the love he left behind.”

It’s hard to believe you left so early, rest in peace Uncle.

Despite having met Uncle only briefly and on a few occasions, every interaction with him was filled with warmth. He was a kind-hearted person, full of life and positivity.
His passing has deeply impacted all of us and has left an immense void in the family. He was someone who held everyone together.
I pray for his departed soul and for the family to find the strength to cope with this unimaginable loss. May God grant them courage during this difficult time, and may Uncle continue to live on in each one of them through the noble values and teachings he leaves behind.
