
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Susan “Sue” Irene Gruchy announces her passing. Sue passed away at her family residence in Pouch Cove, NL on Saturday, June 6th, 2026 at the age of 65 years.
Sue is predeceased by her parents – Hunter & Irene Gruchy and special friend – Bert Noseworthy.
Left with many fond and loving memoires are her brothers – Herbert “Bud” Gruchy (Linda) and Raymond Easterbrook Gruchy; nephews – Mark Gruchy (Leah) and Steven Gruchy (Jeanette); niece – Janice Gruchy (Steve); great nieces – Charlotte, Ella, Maggie and Clare; special friends – Heather, Geraldine and Janet as well as a circle of extended family and friends.
A special thank-you to the Palliative Care Team for their support during the last number of weeks.
Funeral Service will take place at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 18th at 2:00 pm.

Sue was my first cousin, and even though I haven’t seen her in many years, I remember her as the most unpretentious, honest, down to earth person I’ve ever known. And “funny,!” My God she had the greatest sense of humor. God bless you Sue.

She had the best heart and loved her community. Sue would laugh and say when we grow old Pauline we’ll open a shop in Philly’s barn, knit socks and sell them to the tourists! I neglected to mention in my message, that one of
Favourite childhood memories, is playing with Susan and her Newfoundland Dog, John Cabot.
He adored her and was always nearby.
Bud and Family, I was saddened to learn of Susan’s passing. I have fond childhood memories, of hanging out at the launch and chip shop with her.
I haven’t seen her often since school but I enjoyed catching up with her, while visiting the Cape.
She was very interested in Pouch Cove Heritage,
and the work that she did, will be important to future generations.
