Tara Dorothy Blackwood (nee Squire) – Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017, Tara Dorothy Blackwood, age 46 years. Predeceased by her brother Geoffrey Squire in 1982. Leaving to mourn her loving husband and friend of 17 years, Chris; her one and only son whom she adored with all her heart, Nathan; her parents: Neville and Carol Squire; brother Danny (Moya); niece and nephew: Laura Sears (Cody) and Matthew Squire; mother and father-in-law: Pearl and Jim Blackwood; brothers and sisters-in-law; also many nieces, nephews, family and large circle of friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 29th and from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, December 30th. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 30th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery at Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tara’s memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or to the Gathering Place. Having known Tara since we were little kids and having spent time with her at school, playing, and in more recent years, as our own children played together, there are no words to express the sadness and grief we feel at the loss of such a beautiful, gentle, sweet soul. Our hearts go out to you in this time of sadness as you mourn and remember. I take solace in knowing that she is no longer in pain and I have every faith that she will be a part of so many of us forever. Sending love to all.

I was extremely sad to hear of Tara’s passing. Living next door to you guys in my childhood years always brings back so many great memories. And, I remember Tara as being kind and gentle soul – friendly, smart, outgoing and enthusiastic.

Many conversations were had over a sandwich or a bowl of soup where she spoke lovingly of her husband and son and whole family. Her laugh would fill the kitchen and bring smiles to many.
