Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend Thelma Jeanette (Squires) Hicks. She passed peacefully away on Tuesday January 4 at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren after a courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by her beloved daughter Kayla Hilary Hicks, husband Derek Hicks, father Robert Squires and mother Marjorie Squires, brothers Robert Squires, Douglas Squires and Clarence Squires; sisters Edith (Squires) Lawrence and Laura Squires; nephews Stephen Miller and Clarence Squires.
Leaving to mourn son Cory (Corinne) Squires, daughters Melissa Hicks, Tracey (Glen) Hicks, Annie (Matthew) Gavel; beloved grandchildren Jared, Chelsea and Tony, Joshua and Allie, Scarlett, Derek and Dax; sisters Rhoda (John) Cochrane, Lydia Squires, Violet (Peter) Williams and Christine Squires; brother in-law Clyde Clarke; dear friend Fern Somerton, as well as many nieces, nephews, close relatives and special friends here at home and Alberta.
Special thanks to the wonderful care provided by her family doctor, Dr. Aaron McKim, Public Health Nurse Fatima Mansaray, Palliative Care Unit and the staff at the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic.
By personal request cremation has taken place with no visitation due to COVID restrictions. Funeral service by invite only with inurnment to follow at the St. Philip’s Anglican Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thelma’s memory to the St. Philip’s Anglican Church.
While we mourn the loss of this beautiful person we will forever be thankful for the love, laughs and precious memories.
We were very saddened by the passing of Thelma, your Mom. We have many memories of visits, weddings and other gatherings over the years. She was the life of the party. Always smiling. Rest In Peace dear cousin.

I had never met someone so hard working, always smiling, and devoted to her family. Thelma was always good for a chat, a laugh, or a dance. Although we did not know her well, she never let you pass without a hello, or seemed to mind taking a few minutes to have a gab.
