Veronica Christine Leyte

September 29, 1973 to June 6, 2023

Obituary

On June 6th, 2023, surrounded by her family our beautiful Veronica left us at the young age of 49.

Predeceased by Meta Mercer, John Hatcher, Winnie King, Beverly Howell., Lily Keats, Heber Keats, Bill Webber and three fur babies.

Left to mourn her wife Heather, two fur babies Buddy and Nickie; father Bruce Leyte (Gail); mother Betty Leyte (Tony); brother Neil Leyte (Beulah); stepsister Miranda Brown; stepbrother Mitchell Brown; sisters in law, Clara Webber, Donna Keats (Sherry), Dee Cooke (Keith) and Debbie Keats, Dianne Clarke (Neil), Rosalyn Cole (Wayne), Juanita Beaufield (Guy); brothers in law Gary Keats (Janet), Dennis Keats (Wanda); aunts, Julie (Jake), Fran (Harris), Adeline Pardy (Don), Daphne Fudge (Leslie), Lillian White (Dennis), Joan Rogers, and Gloria Rogers; uncles Frederick Rogers (Angela) and Mike Rogers; nieces, Brenda Leyte, Michelle Keats,  Cheryl Keats, Wanda Keats and Kelly Webber; nephews, Jason Leyte, Matthew Keats, Jason Webber; cousins Gail, Julie, Jenna, Hughie, and Michelle; other relatives and friends.

Veronica’s love for life was like watching her eat her favorite desert ice cream, she loved every bite as she did with life. She was in heaven when she was at a pond looking for that fish that Heather lost. When she was sitting by the water surrounded by the forest, she would come up with her painting ideas. The beauty she saw she put on canvas. It was her time when it was just her and her canvas and paint brush. Veronica’s love for the Toronto Maple Leafs was a passion for her. Another favorite thing to do was playing darts, whether it was at home with Heather or at the Kinsman Centre. Our dart community has lost another good player. She loved the competition and the friendships that she made over the years. You have hit more 180’s now sweetie.

Special thanks to her nurse Jennifer, the Palliative Care team at the L.A. Miller Centre, the Ambulance, and the Fire Dept. for all their help. A big thank you to Aunt Julie, Gail Hatcher, and Jenna Hatcher who were always there to drop everything and run to help out. Special thanks to her mom and Tony who stayed with her all while she was sick. Also, to Roxanne and Maria who gave us a camping spot and helped us make many good memories last summer while she was sick. Also, to Carnell’s for their great service.

As per request cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family are requesting that you help offset funeral costs by donating via e mail transfer to gailq@eastlink.ca.

Oh Heather I am so sorry for your loss. Veronica was a beautiful woman with amazing talent. It’s so sad to see such a good woman leave us so soon. May her spirit soar🕊

So very sorry to hear of your loss Heather. My deepest sympathies to you and all of her family & friends. Thinking of you.

My sincerest condolences to Heather, Veronica’s parents and all her family and friends.

I was so sorry to hear this news. I had the pleasure of knowing her family and teaching her in Summerford. I remember fondly many conversations, concert practices and other activities. She always had a smile but I found that to be a trait of her whole family. My thoughts are with you all at this time. Treasure the memories of good times together and feel her spirit in times of laughter and fun. Draw strength from each other.

I was sorry to hear of Veronica’s passing. May the many memories you all have take some of the heartache and sorrow away. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

So sorry to hear of Veronica’s passing.
