Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit on Sunday July 14, 2024, surrounded by loving family and friends, Violet Una Lundrigan, aged 83 years.

Predeceased by her Husband of 54 years, David, Parents Solomon and Amelia Somerton, brothers Edward (Hilda), Edgar (Clara), and precious baby sisters and brothers.

Left with fond and loving memories are her daughter April, and precious grandchildren Joshua and Cameron, whom she thought the world of.  Also leaving to mourn special sister Marg Sullivan, special brother and sister-in-law Dave and Mary Somerton, brother-in-law Edward Lundrigan (Patricia), and a close circle of nieces and nephews.

Heartfelt thanks to staff at both the Health Science Centre (4 South B) and the Palliative Care Unit, and to Father Garry Parsons for his help in our time of need.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.  Funeral service to be held on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the St. Lawrence Anglican Church in Portugal Cove, with interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery on Bauline Line, Portugal Cove.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vi’s memory to St. Lawrence Anglican Church, the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Place https://support.cancer.ca/site/SPageServer/?pagename=ONSAC_TheLodge or the Cancer Care Foundation http://www.cancercarefoundation.ca/donate/

So sorry to hear of Violets passing. She was a sweet and special lady. I know that she and David are walking hand and hand once again.

My father Will Sharpe (David’s cousin) was deeply saddened when he learned of Violets passing. He has many fond memories of their visits.

I feel so lucky to have so many childhood memories of her myself and am grateful for all the visits we had in the years since I’ve moved away. She never missed a chance to pop down and give me a squeeze!
