Peg & Family
So sorry to hear of Wayne’s recent passing. Thinking of you all as you celebrate his life during these very challenging times.

Aunt Peg, Barry, Anne, Julie and Kathy,

I will always very fondly remember uncle Wayne. My love of camping came from visiting you all camping together so many times. Every time I go camping, I always think of aunt Peg and uncle Wayne. How many times Mom and I would come and visit I would just beg to stay as long as possible.

Every time I saw him, he gave me the biggest hug. He was always so kind and welcoming to me. I remember vividly after I moved away and I came home for a visit one time, and I came in the middle of the day for a visit I remember sitting with him at the kitchen table still on Cox’s Lane, Having a tea and just chitchatting.

He was a good man. He was always very kind to me. I will miss him. I am so sorry that we as a family cannot be there to give you more support right now.

Sending my love,

Hi Peggy Myself and Ron were so sad to learn of Wayne’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family at this very sad time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you on the passing of Wayne. Many fond memories of BBQ’s, Christmas’s, get togethers, camping and birthdays. The grief we feel becomes part of us and he will always be with you in your heart. God Bless!

My deepest condolences for the loss of your dad. I didn’t know him well but I often saw him working on your lawn or removing snow from our shared driveways. He and your mom worked as a team and their objective was always making sure you were well cared for. His commitment to caring for you was evident in many ways including making sure you had a perfect lawn and a snow cleared driveway and is an inspiration to me in caring for my children. There are no words to diminish the loss you, your mom and your siblings are experiencing now. But I do know from my own experience of loss that his love and life teachings surrounds, supports and carries you now and always.
Please let your mom know I’m thinking of her too and. that I have always appreciated their help and our warm conversations.

Peggy, Barry and Ann, Julie and Kathy. Words cannot express the sadness I felt when I heard that Wayne had passed away. We had so many fun years camping at Butterpot and as that changed, as everything does, I am so happy we continued our friendship. Our yearly get together on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day was always special and we could always pick up where we left off reminiscing about all the fun we had in our younger years and sharing the things in our lives that happened as the years passed. Hugs to all you guys at this very difficult time. Please know that my thoughts are with you. I will be streaming the service tomorrow to say my final goodbye to Wayne. Take care of each other.

Peg, I was very sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I too only knew him a little but your love for him shone through in your stories with me & others during your work at the Cancer Clinic. I knew of your love for camping and I remember the support and strength you both showed when Barry’s life changed so many years ago, and how all of us at the Cancer Clinic were affected by that and wanted to reach out to help you. What a blessing that it all turned out so well. Thinking of you, Barry, Julia, Kathy and all the Yarn & McGrath families as you say goodbye to the one you loved so dearly. Wishing God’s blessings on you all..

Julie and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts. Hugs!

Sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. We worked on many projects together down thru the years and enjoyed all of them.. He will be missed.

Peg, Barry & Anne, Julie, Kathy & Peter,
It is hard to put a lifetime of memories in one short message. Wayne has been in my life for as long as I can remember – I was still a baby when he met Peg. As a little girl and into my teens, Peg & Wayne treated me as Barry’s big sister. So many of my “firsts” in life can be attributed to their unending kindness – camping, eating at a restaurant, deep sea fishing – too numerous to mention. The one thing I knew for sure was that my childhood was so much better because of them. As adults, Lennie and I spent years going to Peg & Wayne’s house in the Goulds several times a week to play a game of 99’s or Scat with as many people as they could fit around the table. The great times continued with my children – they cherish the memories of visiting them in Butterpot Park and Christmas at Peg and Wayne’s. My last night living in NL was spent at Peg & Wayne’s cabin – it seemed fitting that I should spend it with the two people who had such a distinct impact on my life. I will miss Wayne’s enthusiasm and warm greeting that I would get every time I went home for a visit. He will be truly missed. Thinking of all of you and wishing I could be there.
Love Natalie, Lennie, Michael, & Deanna

I am so sorry to hear of Waynes passing. My thoughts and Prayers are with you and family.

Dear Peg,, Barry, Julie and Kathy. Your dad had a big impact in all of our lives. Wayne is the one who spent the most time in our family, And of course it is because of you Barry, that I got to spend many evenings at your house, babysitting, while Peg and Wayne went out and had fun together. They have been so good all these years, knowing how to enjoy themselves together, sharing with friends, perfecting their social skills. Peg and Wayne have been the models of knowing how to have a good time with friends, and Wayne will be missed from the many gatherings that they’ve had over the years. I too appreciated The times that I have been at your house, and welcomed Wholeheartedly by Wayne and Peg.. As others have said, he was always interested in whoever was visiting and what they were doing in their lives. I will miss my conversations with Wayne when I go home to visit. May he rest in peace, and the knowledge of a life well lived will sustain you during this very sad time. Love Mary

At times like this it is difficult being so far away. Aunt Peg, Barry, Julie, and Kathy, we are offering our condolences. My earliest memories include coming to NFLD every Christmas and during summer vacationa. I always looked forward to the Christmas party at your house; It was filled with our loud and loving family! Uncle Wayne always made time to talk with us kids and make us feel welcome and special. In later years, when Jaymin would travel to NFLD for choir conferences, she always appreciated visiting with uncle Wayne and aunt Peg. From the moment she joined our family, she was immediately welcomed, and she has fond memories of uncle Wayne taking an interest in why she was there. You are a beautiful family and we wish we could be there to celebrate uncle Wayne’s long and wonderful life with you.

Jonathan, Jaymin, and Maggie

Thinking of all of you with love and gratitude. Because of Peg and Wayne
I learned the gentleness and magic of the forest while camping in Butter Pot Park, Terranova National and various other rugged and unnamed sites. I learned to explore the crevices of coastal Newfoundland while heading out to Rattling Brook. I learned how to roast marshmallows over an open fire and how to dig for clams and enjoy them under a starry sky. I learned to love the Montréal Canadiens while munching on many varieties of potato chips. I learned responsibility by spending so many nights caring for Barry while Peg and Wayne enjoyed curling, bowling and card games. I learned commitment to work and financial responsibility by working for many summers at Wayne’s esteemed employer, Newfoundland Light and Power. Many of the things that I have treasured and tried to instill in so many students and especially in my own four children were cultivated and nourished because of Peg and Wayne. In some some ways, I felt more like a daughter and a big sister to Barry. And as I was ready to fledge, Julie and Kathy joined the family to bring endless joy, laughter and support. What a gift your lives have been to your family. Thanks for so many memories. You are a beautiful and lucky team. Be gentle with each other as you wander through this difficult time.
Love always, sister, aunt and friend,

Aunt peg, Barry, Julie, Kathy, and the rest of our great family – we are so sorry for the loss of Wayne. Katrina and I will always remember our years in Newfoundland fondly. We always felt cared for and included with your family. That you welcomed us in so openly and wholeheartedly is reflective of the kindness and love that permeates your family. Wayne will be dearly missed and while his presence can never be replaced, take solace in the family and friends that surround you and know that we are all thinking of you and wishing we could be with you. With love – Alex and Katrina

My condolences to Peg and family. Wayne was a special Uncle to me. I lived with him and Nan Yarn for a year when I was going to school in town when I started grade 7. I remember that he started working for Light and Power and was delivering light bills on foot. Sometimes he’d give me a dime or quarter which I thought was great! He’d spend lots of vacation time at our house too and we had fun! I am happy to have seen him last year when I was home. RIP Uncle Wayne….and hope you have met up with mom now.
