Obituary

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 9,2017 at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home at the age of 84 years. Our mother was a beautiful, strong, and caring woman who’s love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was beyond measure and who will be sadly missed, she was the backbone of our family. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Isabella Newell, her loving husband James Stanley and her son Peter, sisters Maud Martin (late Robert), Hazel Stanley (late Joseph), Joyce Daniels (late Cyril), brothers Clarence (late Evelyn), Stanley (Theresa), Richard and Fred (late Virginia), Leaving to mourn with loving and fond memories her children: Paul (Melanie), Brenda Stanley (James Burgess), Barry (Nancy Emberley), Beverley Wills (John), grandchildren Jimmy Miron (Sherry), Rebecca Stanley, Jennifer Blanche (Nathan), Timothy Stanley (Elizabeth), Robert Stanley, Michael Wills (Allison Vivian) and Laura Wills (Justin Parsons), great grandchildren: Sara, Claire, James and Jessie, a large circle of nieces , nephews, extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Pearl House Retirement Home as well as the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home for their care and compassion over the years. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 1045 Topsail Road, St. John’s, NL. Visitation Saturday and Sunday 2-5pm and 7-9p.m. a Funeral Service will be held on Monday February 13, 2017 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in the Gould’s at 2p.m.   Interment to follow at St. Matthews Cemetery.  Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
