It is with great sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of William George Kay on January 7, 2026, age 78 surrounded by love at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital St. John’s, NL.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife Alice and their three children William, Joseph, and Gregory and their families, his sisters Jeannette Hartfield, Louise Lamons, Elizabeth Watson, and Yvonne Rice-Oxley and their families.
He will be missed greatly by his best friends Paul and Anne Scott.
He was a remarkable man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13th at 11:30 AM at Devine Mercy Parish (St. Paul’s Location), 340 Newfoundland Drive St. John’s, NL A1A 3R9, with inurnment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

Ohhh Mr Kay, i will miss our chats, or deep conversations what ever you would of called it, ill miss seeing you around the dental clinic, some might of thought you were hard to get along with but i broke that ice and u became one of my favourite patients that would always bring a smile to my face when id see you walk through the door. Rest in peace Bill just wish i would if been able to see ya at least one more time just to give that wink and a smile and to tell me to watch over my self❤️ and of course me tormenting u to bring me a chocolate bar .. lol . my heart gos out to all your family !

Alice my deepest condolences on Bill’s passing. I have a lot of memories of him, like how you met aboard the Crosbie vessel so many years ago. There was that instant connection. I remember fondly the dating years and the wedding . I was so honored to be asked to be a bridesmaid. I know that he was a great source of comfort and support to you over the last few years. I wish him eternal peace.
