June 13, 1948 to January 31, 2021

Obituary

On January 31st, 2021, Tex passed away peacefully at home with his sons by his side.

Predeceased by his loving wife Barb, parents Harold and Janet Janes, grandson David Joseph Harris, and special puppy Missy.

Tex leaves to mourn his loss and to celebrate his life his children Dos Keough (Tracy), Ches Janes (Carolyn), Rose Janes (Dave), Tex Janes Jr. and Andy Janes (Stephanie) as well as his grandchildren Robyn Gabriel (Zak), Tyler Janes (Jessica), Amy Janes (Diego), Jenna Harris, Aiden and Emma and his great grandchild Kiana Gabriel. Also leaving to mourn are his brother and sisters Harold (Wanda), Debby Collins (Don), Randy (Brenda), Jenny Ryan (John), special friend Ray Lannon as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and very dear friends.

Tex was a hardworking man who spent most of his life working with Heavy Equipment. You could often see him running a loader or some other sort of machinery moving snow off the Airport runways or dirt in the gravel pit.

Tex had a career at The St. John’s International Airport for many years and during 9-11 Tex was responsible for escorting Military and RNC personnel on to incoming airplanes to help secure and protect the St. John’s International Airport from possible threat, which he spoke about often.

In his later years Tex enjoyed working in the vegetable garden, fishing in Millertown, going to the cabin in Princeton and of course Jiggs dinner on Sunday.

Due to Covid restrictions the family has decided to not have visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will take place at Holy Innocents Church in Paradise on Thursday, February 4th at 10 a.m. To attend the service please register by emailing tlynnrussell@hotmail.com.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Janeway Children’s Foundation in Tex’s name. Until we meet again.

Sending deepest condolences to the Janes family on Tex’s passing. Tex was a great co-worker when we worked together many years ago at St. John’s Airport. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.

Where to begin. From the very early memories of hiding under the table with Randy at Barb and Tex’s wedding to camping trips around the province. All of us living under 1 roof to all of us spreading out across the country. Way too many memories to share. First with the loss of Barb and now Tex. While we are deeply saddened by the loss, we have comfort in knowing they are together again. He’ll be loved up there with his sense of humour and his own spin on swearing!. Wish we were able to be together in these times but due to covid we’ll stay connected in other ways. Rest easy Tex. You’ve had your share of work. Time to rest with Barb. Xx

Our deepest sympathy to all the family. May all your memories be a comfort to you in this sad time.
