Wilson Duffett

Wilson Duffett passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on April 30, 2026 at the age of 89, surrounded by his family. 

Wilson will be deeply missed by his spouse, Irene (née Randell), who shared many years of love and companionship together.

He is survived by his children Cindy (Craig), Andrew (Lynn), and Carolyn (Johnny), as well as his siblings Viola (Edward) Jack (Marie), Howard (Madonna) and Edward. He was predeceased by his siblings Gord (Maxine), Lorraine (Leo), and Boyd (Mary) and sister-in-law Peggy.

Wilson will be sadly missed by his grandchildren and extended family, who will cherish his memory and carry his legacy forward with love and gratitude.

Wilson lived an adventurous life, full of hunting, fishing, and time spent in the outdoors he loved so much. He especially loved dancing up a storm with Irene—no doubt leaving a few floorboards wondering what just happened. He will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to staff at both Shirley’s Haven and Cozy Quarters for their care and support.. A warm thanks to the nurses and physicians at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre and Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, for their care over the past few years. A heartfelt thanks is also extended to the care team at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s for their exceptional end-of-life care and compassion. 

Andrew would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Jack Duggan, Uncle Howard and Madonna as well as Uncle Eddy and Aunt Peggy (RIP) for their unwavering support during some challenging times.

Finally, the moose around Carrie Hill and the local trout ponds may now resume their usual routines—without interruption. The bamboo fishing pole has been laid to rest.

A private service will be held at a later date.
