I just heard of Yvette’s passing and was so sorry that I didn’t know at the time so I could have attended her funeral.I managed Yvette’s volleyball team at Memorial and we stayed in touch until I moved away. She was extremely helpful when I started teaching at Macdonald Drive and I knew she was always there to provide support. Her caring ways obviously carried through to her love of SPAN. She will be missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Yvette’s passing. She was indeed a champion and advocate for single parents through her work with the Single Parent Association. I had the privilege to work very closely with her for ten plus years with the SESP program and knew her to always have compassion and a strong voice for those she represented. My deepest sympathies are extended to Margaret and the SPAN family.
Sincerely, Yvonne Collins

Yvette & Margaret did wonderful work for poor parents in this province. It was a privilege to know them both. Rest In Peace my friend.

I remember Yvette from our days in London, Ontario, way back in our early days, she was a very active sportsperson at the time and obviously continued to live a good and blessed life. So sorry to hear of her passing, I am the same age as she so we know that the big day is inevitable. I still live in London, never left the lovely City but love to hear of old friends.

Just now saw that Yvette passed away over the Christmas Holidays. Very saddened to hear this. She was so passionate about the work she did at SPAN. I was glad to have met and worked with her through ARMS/GGI.

Yvette taught me in Phys Ed from 1969 to 1974. She was strict but caring and helped everyone to reach their potential. In 1974 she suggested I apply to a high school in Hawkesbury, Ontario. I was accepted and have been here ever since. Rest in peace Yvette; you will be sorely missed.

A strong supporter, a mentor, a caring counselor, a staunch advocate, and humble generous soul. Yvette was all those to me in the almost 20 years that I have known her. Her influence on this community and all those she helped through the years will live on with many friends, athletes, single parents and coworkers. I am so grateful for her faith in me and for all she taught.

Yvette surely was a trailblazer. I first met Yvette in 1998 through community groups that we were both involved with at that time. Yvette was a very positive , articulate yet humble human being. I feel blessed to have known her and privileged to call her a good friend for twenty years. Rest in peace Yvette, fly with the Angels.

This lady was always there for every parents in Mt.Pearl.She was a pioneer for Single Parents ,she believe in supporting single parents in education,.I would like to express many thanks for the support from Single Parents Association.

My mind races back to the Christmas of 2001. I was a newly single mother of two wonderful boys. I was lost. I was told about SPAN. I reached out. Yvette told me to come into her office. She gave me gift cards for food. She gave me stockings for my two sons. She made sure i had a gift, as she said, someone had to take care of mom…lol
That following spring, she got me into a course to help me out with finding work. She and the staff of SPAN helped me so much, helped me to realize that just because my marriage had ended, life had not.
She was there for my little family when i needed her. She was an amazing lady. A true friend to those in need. She will be missed. To those who were her family by blood and choice, my thoughts and prayers are with you..

Yvette was a strong and compassionate mentor to my late sister-in-law Debbie and her husband Fred Dominy. She influenced their lives in many positive ways for which my family will be forever grateful. She will be missed.

Yvette impacted many lives and I always knew her to be a champion for those who needed her. She left the world a better place. Rest in peace.
