It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Marie Squires, aged 80 years, (October 18, 1941) her hand held by her loving partner Lloyd, on April 23, 2022.
Predeceased by her parents Edward Murphy and Cecilia (nee Fitzpatrick) Murphy, her brothers Patrick Murphy, Arthur Murphy, and her only son Darren Squires.
She is survived and lovingly missed by her partner of forty years, Lloyd Hillier of Paradise NL, her daughters Sydney Squires, & Rhonda Rice (Bernard) step-daughter Tina Manjaly (Jerry), her sister Brenda Miller, her three grandchildren Robert Rice, Krystina Jones and Jessica Bourque, as well as a large number of relatives and friends.
The family would like to especially thank Brenda Clarke, as much of a daughter to Yvonne, as Sydney & Rhonda, for providing emotional and physical support as her health declined over the past 18 months.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Wednesday April 27, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s. A funeral service will be the following Thursday April 28th at 1:00 p.m. at the Carnell Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend, with the link available on Yvonne’s obituary page at www.carnells.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yvonne’s charity of choice, The Canadian Diabetes Association.
Yvonne is leaving her family deeply saddened with a void that can never be filled, but we are grateful her pain is no more.

Yvonne was a very special part of our childhood along with her friends Lillian, Marion and Shirley, we respected them and knew they wouldn’t tolerate any of our escapades. And as we grew older to be in their company, we were with the coolest strict Mothers ever!! God’s Speed and Happy Landings to Darren and Freddy and Charlie Pride!
So sorry to see Yvonne has passed, we had so many good times together along with Sidney and Rhonda at darts and Sunday night dances at the Blue Rail. She brings a smile to my face when I think about,. Condolences to Lloyd, Sid, Rhonda and all the family. Thinking of you all on this day Hugs
