Obituary

We are devastated to announce the passing of Lauren Ford of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. Lauren passed away in the company of her husband and children on July 13, 2022, in St. John’s, Newfoundland at age 57.

Born in Barrie, Ontario to Al and Sharon Hollingsworth, Lauren spent most of her adult life residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she met her husband of 29 years, Michael Ford.

Those who had the opportunity to meet Lauren were always met with her welcoming and warm-hearted personality. Her strong work ethic and her dedication to helping and serving others contributed greatly to her success as a waitress for over 25 years. Over her career, Lauren was able to build countless relationships with customers and co-workers whom she held very dear to her heart.

Lauren will be remembered by her family for her endless unconditional love. Those Lauren cared about were always given her best, and when her loved ones were in need, she always answered the call. Lauren never ran out of kindness to give others, and those who knew her would say you would have a very hard time finding a mean bone in her body. In recent years, Lauren became a grandmother, and this love grew exponentially. She would often say that her favorite day of the week was Sunday, a day she reserved to visit her grandchildren every week. We are confident in saying that her love for her grandson and granddaughter is eternal.

Lauren is survived by and will be forever remembered by her husband Michael, children Erin (Aziz) and Benjamin (Shonna), grandchildren Landon and Harlowe, parents Al and Sharon, siblings Pamela and Paul (Tamara), multiple nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Lauren was predeceased by her brother Bryce, grandparents George and Muriel Curry, Gordon and Grace Kilcup, brother-in-law Dave Ford, and parents-in-law, Will and Mabel Ford.

We will come together to celebrate Lauren’s life on August 21st, 2022, from 12pm-4pm at the Sackville Legion, located at 45 Sackville Crossroads, Lower Sackville. Lauren will be greatly missed by those who loved her. She was taken from us much too soon, and the void left by her presence will never be filled.

We will carry Lauren in our hearts and always remind ourselves that, as said by Lauren to her grandchildren before she left for her summer in Newfoundland …     “This is not goodbye, it’s just see you later.”

My condolences to Lauren’s whole family she will be deeply missed Lauren was such a sweet lady RIP Lauren thinking of your whole family at this difficult time .

Michael, Erin, Ben & Family; and the Hollingsworth Family: Since learning the sad news of LAUREN’s tragic passing, my thoughts and prayers have been for your family as well as for Lauren’s parents and siblings. I knew she had to be an extra special person, not only because of the esteem in which she was obviously held by her clients and friends but especially because you chose her to be your partner and to be the mother of your dear children and grandchildren. I know your immediate family and your many friends in Newfoundland have been a tremendous support and this will definitely be true of your family and friends in Nova Scotia. As well, Lauren’s love and memory will inspire you to “pick up the broken pieces that remain”, living for the things that matter and are eternal.
My sincerest sympathy and prayers,
George Demmons (Rev.)

Our heart goes out to the whole family at this difficult time. Lauren was always so kind and sweet to us, it was always a pleasure to be in her company. I know how much her grandchildren meant to her she sure was a proud Nan. Our hearts break for the grandchildren we share, we promise to always let them know they have a nan who loves them and watches over them. Lauren will be forever remembered and forever missed

My condolences to the whole family… Lauren was a beautiful, kind soul who always made everyone around her smile and laugh, she has so much love to give. She was a wonderful friend and loved by so, so many. She always called me her second daughter, and wanted to help me plan my wedding but we never got the chance. Myself and many more thought the world over her. She will be dearly missed and loved always. Until we meet again darling, i love you.💗

It was no secret that the moment you met Lauren, you had made a friend. She was so warm and welcoming. I’ll never forget my first time meeting her at Swiss chalet. She was so proud to tell me she was Ben’s mom. She talked about how proud she was of him and how well he was doing in school. She shared a few more stories, we shared a few laughs. Over the years I got to learn how lovely of a person she was. She loved her family, so much, especially her grandchildren. May you rest peacefully. You will be missed Lauren.

My deepest condolences to the family of this kind, gentle lady. She was a customer of mine and always had a smile and a kind word to say. Rest In Peace Lauren

I’m so very sorry for your loss Erin and family. Gone way too soon for sure! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you ❤️❤️

I worked with Lauren at Klondike Jake’s many years ago & I can still hear her say Lisa, I’m going to tell you this….as she’d offer some words of wisdom. I fondly remember our chats when I’d sometimes drive her home after a shift & do recall her saying as she would get out of my car ‘this is not goodbye but see you later’.
I also recall how Lauren loved her family & had a great sense of humour. I’m deeply saddened to hear of her passing & send heartfelt condolences to her family.

Lauren had a hard time deciding whether or not to accompany Mike to NL for the summer., because she was worried about leaving her Dad and me alone. That is the measure of the kind and caring woman, and daughter she was. We have so missed her since she left on May 13 and we are heartbroken to know that we will now miss her forever. Rest easy our beautiful daughter, hope to “see you later.” 💕

She was a wonderful caring daughter, deeply loved by all who were fortunate enough to meet her. She will live on through her children , Erin and Ben, and grandchildren Landon and Harlow. We miss her terribly.
