Christine Fern Baker, 61, died unexpectedly September 29, 2022, at Joseph Brant Hospital Burlington ON.

Predeceased by her parents Jack and Mable Baker, brothers Chess, Kevin, John, Fred, and Ed Baker, sisters Laura McCormack, Lucy Bonell, and Mill Flynn.

Left with broken hearts are her sons Rodney Baker, and Gerard Jr aka Bo Baker (Sara), daughter Rhonda Young (Brian), her two handsome grandsons who she adored Nathaniel Baker who she referred to as Cockie (Abbi), Logan Kelloway and her one and only granddaughter Kiara Baker Hutchings. Her very loving Sister Nora and her partner and good friend Johnny Pouliot who were always there for her, sisters Mary and Sharon Bonell and brothers Gary and Randy Baker, her nieces and nephews, also close and dear friend of over 50 years Vivian Short! Many family and friends especially her children’s father Gerard Corcoran (Sandra) and all the rest of the Corcoran family!

Mom was very kindhearted and laid-back person, she didn’t mind her words and if she had something to say she didn’t mind telling you as she never held anything back, but she wore her heart on her sleeve. She did have a gentle side to her, but her humor made her who she was. She wasn’t easily embarrassed and truly didn’t care what anyone thought of her she lived life for herself not anyone else. Over the past 5 years she fought a hard battle with life from cancer to an obstruction of the bowel that took her life suddenly. But that’s exactly how she wanted it she never wanted to be a burden to anyone especially her children and grandchildren. She was known mostly as Newfie Nanny from Yahoo chat and there she met a lot of good friends especially Jeanine (bunny) who after many years got to visit mom just a few weeks ago before she passed… we would like to thank her good friend Jackie who was there to bring her to Hamilton for her appointments and never hesitated and waited until she was done. We appreciate your kindness to mom!

Funeral service will take place at The Carnell Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
