Obituary
Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park, Marie T. Devine, at the age of 100. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Annie Devine (nee Fahey) and brothers Patrick and Kevin. Leaving to mourn her sister Angela; nieces, nephews and close friends. Marie was born in Harbour Main on July 1, 1918. She loved Newfoundland and relished the opportunity to get her opinions into any conversation that involved politics. Marie will be resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday January 10 from 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday January 11 from St. Pius X Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Southlands. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Marie’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you. We have fond and loving memories of Marie and Angela who spent many hours at the Hotel Newfoundland (now the Sheraton). We enjoyed their company as much as they liked being our visitors and as a result became great friends and had many wonderful conversations. . Everyday we looked forward to them coming in. Angels are always near to those who are grieving to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hands of God. Rest in Peace Marie.

Even though I haven’t seen either of you in a long time, I have often thought of you both. What a wonderful age to live to! Marie is now living in perpetual happiness in God’s heavenly home.
