Muriel Gladys Carter (nee Baker)

November 17, 1929 to April 14, 2018

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her Tiffany Village residence at age 88.  Now reunited with her loving husband Walter Carter, Muriel leaves to mourn their children: Roger (Cris), Donna (Wayne) Green, Dave (Marianne Rogers), Paul (Pam), Glen (Mary Jane), Bonnie (Gary) Summers, Greg (Tina Taylor), Susan (John) Ralph; their grandchildren: Dana (Derek) Wetherell, Geoffrey (Leanne), Sarah (Joseph), Krista (Kerry) Arnold, Melissa (Colin) McNeil, Angie (Mitchell), Andrew (Andrea), Jill (Chris) Butler, Matthew (Kara), Philippe, Vanessa (Mike) Gilbert, Stephanie (Corey) Locke, Will, Caroline, John (Natasha) Ralph and Courtney (Ken) Ralph; and fourteen great-grandchildren.  Also left with fond and loving memories are her siblings: Molly Bainbridge, Allan (Iris) Baker, Jeannette Grant, Glenys (Harold) Walters, Carolynn (Bill) Browne, and Debbie (Terry) Gill; in-laws: Mary Fleetwood and Dr. Allister (Heather) Carter; special friends Carol Densmore, Alma Moore and Ann Gill; also many nephews, nieces and friends.  Predeceased by her parents Laura and Allan Baker, sister Myrtle Hines and brother-in-law Kelvin Grant.

Muriel, or “Moolie” as she was affectionately known, will be remembered as a generous and loving woman who took great joy in her family and their accomplishments.  She continuously put others before herself, and was always there with a kind word, a home cooked meal and a listening ear.  She inspired all with her deep faith and devotion, and generous support of her church and other causes.  Special thanks to her physician and family friend Dr. Randy Hart for going above and beyond in providing care, and to the staff of Tiffany Village for their support.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday April 18 and Thursday April 19 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd.  Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Diabetic Association and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.  Cremation has taken place.

Your parents were wonderful hosts to us when we visited Newfoundland, and it was great to meet with so many of the family for a great evening of music and laughs during our stay! She has gone home to God and to join her family and friends who have gone on before her. She has left her family a strong legacy rich in faith and love .
