Obituary
Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit on October 27, 2019, Hubert Driscoll, aged 80 years.
Left with a lifetime of memories are his wife Monya (nee Vere-Holloway); Brothers: Carlson, Ron (Lottie), Ernie (Geraldine) and Doug (Cathy). Monya’s family: Alma Osmond, Shirley Hiscock (Ray), Olga Bursey, Harry (Sandy), Vickie (John Turnbull), Loretta Vere-Holloway, Derek (Mary), Karen Abbott (Keith), a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A very special thank-you to Hubert’s niece Sherri Driscoll for her tireless support of Hubert throughout his illness.
Hubert was a long serving member of both the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Portugal Cove and the Portugal Cove-St. Phillips Lions Club. He had been named “Lion of the Year” in recognition of his support of Lions community service.
Our family wishes to extend deep appreciation to the staff of the HSC and PCU for the professional and compassionate care provided to Hubert during his cancer journey.
Cremation has been entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home. As per Hubert’s wishes there will be no public visitation. As an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
I am just learning of Hubert’s passing. Hubert was a friend of Bill Royle and my husband I spent many hours with Hubert as we, along with Hubert and so many more, kept Bill company during his time at Palliative. That was our first meeting with Hubert and it was an easy friendship with him as he regaled us with many humorous stories and eased the sadness for the reason we were on that ward. Heartbreaking to know Hubert had passed and we weren’t aware of his loss and the loss to his family and friends in Portugal Cove. It’s never too late to share in the family’s loss and reason for this late expression of sympathy was needed. Cheers Hubert. Great to have known you m’friend. Donna and Curt Beverley.

Deepest condolences to Monya and members of the Driscoll family. We go way back to the establishment of the PC Lions in 1976. We were a bunch of “upstarts” at that time and Hubert was very much the rascal upstart then. He always offered a friendly smile.
