It didn’t matter if you were a senior leader or a brand new, front line employee – Rick treated everyone the same. So kind and approachable. Our work family is definitely feeling the loss of one of our key leaders this week. I hope your memories find a way to heal your hearts over time. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

To Kelli and family and to all of Rick’s family, my deepest sympathy . Living away from home I never had the good luck to meet Rick but from everything I have heard and read he was the “real thing” Hope all the good memories ease the pain. RIP Rick.

To Kelli & family. I am so sorry to hear this news. Rick was a colleague of mine at KPMG and we worked closely together at the time. He was such a pleasure to be around, even-keeled, trustworthy, happy, sincere & honest. I will miss him dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Kelli and family, It is beyond comprehension to think this is real. Rick had such a way of making people feel worthy, feel cared for, feel supported. He understood the wonder of life and the incredible significance of relationship. We are so sorry for your loss, sorry for the emptiness you feel today and will continue to feel. We are grateful for each of you and how you made his life so special. On behalf of Relationships First, a project that Rick was faithful in encouraging, we hold you all in our thoughts and prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. I can’t stop thinking of you and remembering times of long ago. Ricky Rowsell and I grew up on Sullivan Street. We spent so much time together as kids. There was ball hockey, basketball, skating on the bog behind our house until dark. We rode on skidoo, cut trees for bonfire night and played baseball on a field we made. We caught frogs and built forts in the woods. His mom always made the best cookies! Such simple times that are a long time ago now but still bring a smile to my face. We joined curling together. We would walk together after school to the curling club. When Rick moved to St. John’s to curl in high school we drifted apart but always had time to chat when we crossed paths. My wife Janis went to school with Kim. I think one of the last times we spoke was when she passed. They are both gone too young. I am glad he found love again and that you got to enjoy the wonderful person he was. I doubt that I will be done reminiscing of childhood stories any time soon. Thinking of you all and your loss. He was a great guy and will be missed. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Brian and Janis Dwyer

To Rick’s family, I am shocked and saddened to learn of Rick’s passing. Rick and I worked together at KPMG decades ago. When I was looking for work in 2015, I reached out to Rick as part of my network and he took the time to meet with me on multiple occasions in support of my career change. Rick had a gentle way about him and I appreciated the time he took from his busy schedule for me. With sympathy and condolences, Susan

I was fortunate to have been able to work with Rick at Johnson and can easily say that I am a better professional and person for having had his influence.
Rick was a true gentleman and will be missed.

To the Rowsell family, so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. I have known him for many years through my cousin Kim. It was always a pleasure to be in his company, especially to talk about our love of curling. Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers.

We are devastated by Rick’s death. Our Son In Law Rick Rowsell was a man chosen by our daughter Kelli to be loved, cherished and valued as a member of our crazy family. Kev and I hope and pray that you truly understood how much we cherished you. We loved how you lit up Kelli’s life and how you were such an amazing father to Katie and Carter. You filled their lives with happiness everyday and you were so proud of all their accomplishments. For that we are eternally grateful. Looking at pictures and videos is painful right now but that is only because you are not here to laugh along with us. However, we will never stop because in those brief moments you are once again with us. Your passing at 51 is beyond the natural order of things and we lost you way too soon. Our time with you has been an incredible gift and a source of joy. There is a hole in our hearts that I fear will never heal, but the love we have for you is a memory that can never be taken from us. Kev and I are so proud to call you our son in law. You are a special and unique human being who will forever remain in our hearts. Miss you already, love you forever and never will you be forgotten. All our love,Terry and Kev Sharpe

It’s hard to believe that Rick is gone. Sean and I met Rick many years ago in our university days and Kim was our roommate. He was always such a laid back, nice guy, not to mention super curler of course! They were simpler times for sure and still bring a smile to my face. We were so pleased that Rick got a second chance for love and family.. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our deepest condolences to his wife and family. Rest In Peace old friend.

Our deepest condolences to Rick’s Family ! I have known Rick for over 15 years working at RSA. He was a very smart individual, approachable and down to earth. A big loss to all of us! May his soul Rest In Peace and may heavens be his next place to rest.

Kelli and Family so sorry to hear of Ricks passing. Thinking of you all at this time

Kelli and Family,
I so so sorry to hear about your tragic loss. My thoughts are with you all at this time.

Rick will be truly missed. I had the privilege of working with Rick for many years at Johnsons. He was a great mentor, leader and friend. Before I retired last year he told me how happy he was to be a dad to Kelli’s children. He spoke of them with a smile and with alot of love. Rest in peace Rick! And thank you for being one of the greatest coworkers anyone could have.

So sorry to learn of ricks passing. He was far too young of a man with so much life in his soul. Wonderful man and a great teammate. He will be missed

Kelli, Carter and Katie. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.

I’ve known Rick since kindergarten andI had the privilege to have spent an afternoon with him last year when he visited Alberta for a golf trip. We reminisced about our school days and talked about the great losses in his life and the new things that brought him happiness.

He spoke of you all: the love for his parents and for his two siblings(Marlene he insisted I try out your baked goods when I come home) and how highly he regarded The Cole’s and wanted them to be happy. He laughed when he mentioned his buddies and golf trip antics. Kelli, he spoke of you with a smile on his face and he was truly happy to have you and your children in his life. I was so thankful that he found you and that you were there for him when he needed someone the most.

I last connected with Rick in July and he never mentioned how grave his situation was. In fact, he told me he was feeling fine and that he was sure everything would be ok. That would be him, positive and upbeat and not one to bring attention to himself. I wish I had of checked in a little more often.

To all of his family and friends, I know how big of a loss this is, my condolences to you all. I will never forget Rick and rest assured from now on when thunder sounds I will smile and think of Rick up there delivering a perfect stone to win the game.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Rick’s passing and wish Kelli and the children strength during this time. Rick is now an angel to watch over and protect you from above. May you find some peace in that he is with his maker and is not in pain. Thinking of you all during this time. Sending love from Ron Seddon (curing teammate years ago and his classmate). Ron and Lori Seddon.

A leader, a gentleman, and an elite Curler. These all come to epitomize Rick. Our sincere condolences to Kelli and family.
