Obituary
Sharon Cybella Hammond passed away at the age of 60 at the Health Science Centre on April 28th surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her mother Cybella Gollop, and brother Ronnie Gollop.
Leaving to mourn are her husband Roger Hammond, daughter Daphne McLean (James McLean), son Dean Hammond (Jennifer Kryszak), father George Gollop, sister Lisa Aylward (Calvin), brother Rick Gollop (Darlene) brother Roger Gollop (Sharon), grandchildren Landon McLean, Cybella McLean, Toby McLean, Roger McLean, brother-in-law Robert Hammond (Carla), Mary McLean, Aunt Edith Churchill.
Also leaving to mourn many nieces and nephews; her pickleball, softball, and music communities; along with her many life-long friends.
The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday April 30 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and Sunday May 1 from 11am-1pm and 7-9pm.
The funeral will take place at St. Lawrence Anglican Church Portugal Cove, on Monday May 2 at 2pm.
Flowers are greatly accepted as well as donations to a charity in Sharon’s name.

Rodger, Dean and Daphne, and those grandbabies still can’t believe Sharon has passed. As each and everyone has said, she was full of life, always there with a joke and that laugh…I got to spend summers with her playing ball but my most valued memory is the night we spent in Montreal after missing our connecting flight. It was an HONOR to be with her at that time.. And she was there when I needed her.

We are so saddened and sorry to hear of Sharon’s passing. Sharon was such a beautiful, kindhearted woman who we know will be missed dearly by all of those who were lucky to have known her. We were lucky enough to have known Sharon through our business, buying lobsters from Roger and herself for many years. If Roger couldn’t make it up, Sharon would hop aboard the truck and bring up their catch bright and early in the mornings. We’d love to see her coming because her beautiful smile would light up your day. She would always talk very fondly about her family, especially her grandchildren, her ball friends and of course her accordion group. Her quick visits to drop off lobsters would turn into long chats and lots of laughs, something we came to look forward to. Years later, we still stayed in touch because we were lucky enough to have been gifted with one of Daphne’s puppies and Sharon had one also. Sharon was someone that even if you never seen for awhile, you would always pick up right where you left off. Such an amazing individual. We know this is a very difficult time for you all but we hope that all of those special memories you have of Sharon, help bring you comfort in the difficult days ahead. Please know that we are thinking of you all and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Our deepest condolences.

I met Sharon through playing pickleball. When we played with Sharon she would amaze us with her humour as well as her speed and agility running around the court, sliding, jumping and slicing at the ball. Always ending a winning shot with her happy dance.
Sharon quickly gained a love for pickleball and was keen to share her athletic ability. She shared her skills, zest for life and friendship with us. Mostly, she shared her love and the pride she had for her family.
Sharon will be missed. My sincerest condolences to all of the Hammond and Gollop families.

So very sorry to hear of Sharon’s passing. We met through the East Coast Rock Pickleball Club where she was one of our first members. She was a great competitor and a great teacher of the game. We became fast friends through pickleball and she was like someone you knew all your life through her bright smile, sense of humour and kind heart. She meant a lot to the large Pickleball family at East Coast Rock Pickleball Club. She was giving of her time to help new players and gave the rest of us a fierce and fun loving competitor. She would brighten our day as soon as she stepped on the court. We will miss her dearly and will remember her often. We will keep her and her family in our hearts and prayers.
