Celina, Aden and family

I was so surprised and sad to hear about Ted.

Not only did he supervise me as management when he was on the Board of CHHC but I considered him to be a friend. Ted was firm and had high expectations of himself and those he worked with.

He was extremely fair and worked to help people succeed. He was generous with his time and hospitality and I remember so many good times having dinner at his house.

Not only is this a big loss to his family but a big loss for the community.

To Celina, Aden, Marilyn, Bill, Oscar and the Howell and Sheppard families,
I am very sorry for your loss..
I remember Ted as a gentle, soft spoken and kind father to Aden.
My thoughts are with you.

Celina – very sorry to hear this sad news. Ted and I stayed at residence together at MUN when we were 17. We lost touch somewhat over the years but somehow found each other at energy industry events or occasional run ins at coffee shops. When I was back in NL a few years ago for a conference I ran into Ted and he invited me back to your place for a “pop”. Always a first class gentleman in every respect. He was one of those guys of rare breed that was the same at 17 that he was at 50 +. My sincere condolences. All the best to you and your family. A life well lived.

I was shocked to hear the news of Ted’s sudden passing. We first met years ago when I worked for CBC and was assigned to interview him in his role at the CNLOPB.
Later, our paths crossed socially. Ted’s brother Oscar and his wife Sue are godparents to my middle daughter, Sarah. For several years Ted and I would bump into each other at Oscar and Sue’s Christmas Eve open house..
Last year, after many years, our paths crossed again when we became part of the same hockey group.
I enjoyed our post-game chats and got to know him a little more. Turns out we had a lot in common, although he was much better at hockey than me!
Ted’s death hits me hard. I can’t imagine how those of you who are close to him must feel.
My sincerest condolences. Ted left us too soon.

To Celina and Aden, We offer our condolences to you and all of Ted’s family at this very sad and difficult time. Ted was a kind neighbour, who could be found at the base of our driveway, lending a hand and happy to chat, after a snow fall. Hold your memories dear. Take care, Susan and John.

Very saddened to hear this news and want to offer my sincere condolences to Ted’s family. I worked in a volunteer capacity with Ted over the years and he also was my customer for our business services. Such an articulate man. I admired his professionalism, keen insight, and good humour. It was not long ago that we had a nice chat at a social function and he had so much left to do.
May he rest in peace and may you take comfort in his family legacy.

My deepest condolences.
May your memories of the good times sustain you during this difficult time.
Nancy

The hockey community is a tight knit bunch, and i was lucky to have played with Ted through the years. He will be sadly missed. on and off the ice. So sorry to hear of his sudden passing. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Ted, I am so sorry to lose your physical presence in my life. You and I were truly ‘friends’ for over a quarter of a century. I will miss our lengthy conversation, our raucous laughter, and our countless hours spent working together. Katie, Leah, Aden, and Celina – I am so sorry for your great loss. I know how much he loved each of you, as he told me so regularly. And I know you each loved him in return. May time soften the loss and allow the beautiful memories to gradually replace the sadness and grief you are experiencing. And may his memory be a blessing. George and I are sending you love and healing energy,

The Howell Family,

Our sincere condolences for your loss. May the fond memories you share bring you peace and comfort in the days and weeks ahead.

Please accept my condolences on Ted’s passing. I met Ted through business and always enjoyed seeing him at various events. Very surprised at his untimely death. May he RIP.

It was a pure shock to hear this news about Ted, it was only a few days ago that we were on the ice together playing hockey at Twin Rinks on our Silly Salmon Team run by Shawn Churchill. I know Ted a long while now, we always got along well, we are of the same vintage and I am going to miss him! I am really sorry for his family, JC in the Goulds.

To Marilyn and Bill and all your family
Sending you my deepest sympathy on the loss of your brother. Grief is the price we pay for love.
Sincerley , Phyllis Beckett

Marilyn, Bill and Family,
” Come to me all those who are weary and I will give thee rest.” My heart hurts hearing about Teds death.
I was shook when I got word last night! With his lifelong friendship with my brother Rick, Ted was like one of the family. I remember all of us piling in your back porch waiting for your dad to give us a ride to school. Let your tears flow; they are the price we pay for loving somebody. Marilyn there are no words to take away the grief and sadness but may time, family and friends help to heal your broken hearts and move you gently forward. Sharing in your sadness- a tissue moment indeed. And may the peace of Christ that passes all understanding be with you through this valley of darkness. Wrapping a shawl of comforting love snugly around all your aching hearts. From up here to down there, holding you all close- strength for the days ahead, Diane and Marc

I got to know Ted better during COVID shut down, in our weekly hockey group zoom chats, a pretty funny, quite guy, and genital sole but not so much on the ice he played old school hockey a little tug, elbow or hook was fine but nothing dirty. I’ll miss him and the Silly Salmons will be tipping one to him soon. Ted please say hi to Terry for us. Gunner

My condolences to Ted’s family and friends. I met Ted when he volunteered on the NLCHI Board of Directors. He was a great Board member and even better person. Thoughts with you all.

Dear Oscar, Marilyn and extended family
I am completely devasted to hear of Ted’s passing. We practically grew up together from Day 1. He was a wonderful friend, class mate, hockey/volleyball/basketball team mate and all around great buddy to chum around with.
We loved playing shinny on Carbonear pond and I even remember one year him and his Dad built a little backyard rink we skated on.
In the early 70’s we played together on an all Newfoundland CBN Bantam hockey team, winning a championship in Grand Falls.
Ted was “smart as a whip” at school and he often helped out myself and others, especially in high school when our subjects got more challenging. Although we lost track of each other in our adult lives, Ted often came up in my conversations and thoughts through the years. When my younger brother Craig passed away in 2013, Ted was one of the first to seek me out in Carbonear and extend his condolences. Thankfully, we got a brief chance to catch up on old times.
I cannot begin to say how wonderful a child hood friend Ted Howell was. My deepest, deepest condolences go out to Ted’s family and friends. RIP Ted.
God Bless

Ted lived just a few houses down from our house on Patrick Street, Carbonear. We grew up and played different sports with the “gang” in the neighbourhood. To Ted’s Family & Friends.
I had the privilege of working with Ted, on the NLCHI Board over the last number of years. He was like a mentor to me, and always a gem of a person.

Thank you Ted for affording me the experience of learning from you.

I have lots of fond memories.

You will be missed by many Ted.

Katie, Leah, and family,

I’m so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Katie, I have lots of fond memories of your dad from when we were growing up.

I still remember the science fair projects we (he!) did (for us) including the hovercraft. I remember him taking us and Elizabeth to The Wilds for a mini staycation before staycations were cool. I have never eaten so much bacon in my life. I still to this day cook bacon the way he did on our staycation – using the broiler! It comes out perfectly every time! I remember sleepovers at his old place with the fattest kitty cat I had ever seen (Morris the cat) and him picking us up from parties all over the Northeast Avalon and not really buying that we hasn’t had a few “sodas”. There are many more as well.

I also remember seeing all of his degrees and accolades from over the years and admiring how accomplished he was. It certainly influenced my career path.

Most of all, it was lovely to catch up with your dad over the summer at Jay’s birthday party and at your wedding. I will cherish my last couple of chats with him and the great big hug he gave me after haven’t seeing each other in many years.

My deepest condolences to all of you. Rest in Peace Mr. Howell.
