Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Pearce (Abbott) from Bonavista. Evelyn passed peacefully on March 26th, 2024. at the Health Science Centre, with her loving daughter Christa by her side. She was 68.

Predeceased by her parents Eli and Greta Abbott (nee Linthorne); sisters Phylis Watkinson, Loretta Curtis, and Yvonne Regular; brother Eric Abbott; in laws Robert and Joan Pearce; sisters in law Delores Abbott and Minnie Pearce; brother in law Clyde Abbott; niece Cynthia Abbott.

Leaving to mourn with the fondest of memories, her beloved husband and best friend of 50 years, Chesley Pearce. Her beloved sons; Robert and Justin and her daughter Christa. Her children were her greatest blessing and her love for them was endless. As was their love for her. She will be forever missed and remembered by brothers; Alex Abbott (Sue), Ross Abbott (Kim) and Wayne Abbott; sisters; Joan Abbott and Joyce Hayward; sisters in law; Jaqueline Kippenhuck (Harvey), Patricia Pearce (Earnie), Roberta Pearce and Rosalind Abbott; brothers in law David Pearce (Alicia), Arch Regular and Eugene Curtis. Her granddaughters, Brooklyn and Hannah, were the sunshine that brightened up her life’s journey. Despite her struggles with illness, their presence filled her heart with pure joy and gave her the strength to keep going. With the fondest of memories, Evelyn will be sadly missed by her sister Joyce. Not just sisters, but the best of friends. Evelyn always looked forward to Joyce’s visits and there was no shortage of laughter when they got together. She will also be remembered by special friend, fishing buddy and bingo partner Alicia Pearce. Evelyn had endless love for all her nieces and nephews but shared a special bond with her niece Tracy. She cared for her like a second daughter and that affection spilled over to her great nieces Kendra and Klaire. Evelyn embodied the beauty of simplicity, finding joy in everyday pleasures like a warm cup of coffee, a game of bingo, or a peaceful evening by the pond. Her selfless nature and talent for cooking brought happiness to those around her.

Though we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary woman, let us find comfort knowing that Evelyn is now at peace after living a life filled with happiness, love, and laughter.
