Adam John Cahill

March 16, 1985 to August 12, 2022

Obituary

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Adam’s death after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 12th at age 37.

Predeceased by grandparents, Charles and Mary Cahill, and John and Rita St. Croix; cousin, Robyn Peddle; uncles: Richard St. Croix, Paul St. Croix and Randolph St. Croix; and father-in-law, Ronald Ryan.

Leaving to mourn his partner of 15 years, Devonne Ryan (her mother, Rosalie; her sister, Natalie and her brother, Ronald); his parents, Brian and Mildred Cahill (nee St. Croix); sister, Alana Cahill; aunts and uncles: Charlie Cahill (Carey), Robert Cahill (Betty), Christopher St. Croix, Jacqueline St. Croix, Helen Peddle (Randal), Sebastian St. Croix (Madelyn), and Louise Daley; his godmother, Mary Lawlor, and special friend, Peter Fifield, as well as an extensive circle of dedicated family and friends.

Adam will be remembered for his razor-sharp wit and his one-of-a-kind, unwavering sense of humour. He was endlessly optimistic and kind to everyone he encountered. When he wasn’t travelling the world, he was canoeing or kayaking on Gambo Pond or searching for new, secret swimming spots. Adam was a voracious reader and fierce pub trivia player fuelled by an encyclopedic knowledge of music and pop-culture.

He brought smiles and laughter everywhere he went. His grace and humility touched many lives; his loss is immeasurable to the people who loved him.

We want to thank the incredible health care team at the Health Sciences Centre, including Dr. Costello, Dr. Jones and Tasha Gilbert, for their tireless and compassionate care—a special thanks to the amazing staff of 4 North A and the Ambulatory Treatment Unit.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 17th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m., and Thursday, August 18th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m.  Celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 19th, 2022,  at 9:30 a.m. from St. Teresa’s Church, Mundy Pond Rd.

The family wish that all visitors wear their masks during visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Adam’s memory to Ronald McDonald House charity.

Forever remembered in our hearts, our gentle-giant, Adam
