Adrien Colohan

April 20, 1961 to March 5, 2021

Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and premature passing of our beloved baby brother, Adrien Colohan, aged 59, on Friday, March 5, 2021.  Predeceased by his parents, Austin and Renee Colohan, and his older brother, Liam.

Leaving to mourn his sister Deirdre (Davis), his brothers, Desmond and Austin, his nephews: Sean and Chris (Colohan) and Ryan (Davis); and his nieces: Shannon (Colohan) and Robyn (Davis); his best friends, Mike Barron and Jeff King; as well as his many other good friends, who were all very dear to him. He also leaves his cat, Sally, to whom he was devoted.

Adrien was a very creative person and his passions in life were music, golf, and graphic design.   He performed in several bands during the 80’s, but his longest gig was with his good friend Mike, in Phil ‘n’ the Blank.  They started out on George Street and performed in the first five years of the George Street Festival.  They toured the province and had many stories to share about their adventures.  This period of his life gave him great joy.

Adrien worked as a graphic designer for over 20 years with Signs 1st where he was treated like family.

By request, cremation has taken place.  Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA.

Let the band play on, Adrien.
“May you have been half an hour in heaven, before the devil knew you were dead.”

I worked along side Adrian (Ace) at Sign’s 1st and a kinder soul I could not have met. We shared many great laughs and times together. You were a great teacher and friend Adrian. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

May you Rest In Peace.

I first met Adrien in 1986 when we both attended college doing Commercial Art.
Unfortunately, the last time I spoke with him was 33 years ago. I often wondered about him and thought about contacting him many times. I regret now not doing so.
Adrien was funny, outspoken and a very talented individual. When I read of his passing I became speechless. May God strengthen his family and help them through this most difficult time.

RIP “Ace”. You were a good work mate and friend.

To Adrien’s family, I’m very sorry to hear of Adrian’s death. We were in the same grade at St. Bon’s and played hockey together in school. Adrien had a sense of humor and was a great guy. . I hadn’t seen Adrien in a long time. My condolences to his family

We have many fond memories of being at the Carriage Works, listening to Mike and Ace. The music was wonderful; their performances always had a happy and uplifting quality to them. What fun we had! So sorry to hear of Ace’s passing.. way too soon. Please accept our sincere condolences.

Adrien was a lifelong friend of mine. We spent many many hours together exploring Bowering Park., talking Liam into taking us for a spin in the Gremlin or just hanging out on the little dirt road behind his house with the girls who hung out with my sisters Eileen and Corinne. I remember the days his Mom would deep fry fish or chicken and chips for us, the absolute tastiest!

I have fond memories of waiting for the bus in the early morning in front of the park with Adrien to get to St. Bons, listening to Mr. O’Brien come out of the green house whistling with a bucket of feed for the ducks in the pond, they could not get across the water fast enough, it was quite the show.. I believe we were able to set our watches to his timing.

After school Jumping off the bus on Topsail Rd and running down to our houses past the Sanatorium to get changed after school and getting back on the same bus in front of the park to go to the stadium for the high school .hockey game… sometimes the driver would let us back on for free. LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY!

His wit and ability to entertain with improv was second to none. He had many talents.

My deepest condolences to Des , Austin and Deiedre and their families. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

My thoughts are with Adrian’s family as they grief the loss of their brother. Our families grew up next door to each other on Waterford Bridge Rd and I remember many a day spent in Bowring Park across the street.
My brothers Frank and Sean were closest to Adrian and I would see him on the rare occasion he would make it to one of our family gatherings. He always brought a smile.
Rest easy Adrian.

To Adrien’s family and friends please accept our condolences on your loss. We were school mates at St. Bon’s and Brother Rice and Memorial before we lost touch. I saw his music career launched when he played French Horn in the St. Bon’s school band and then later was blown away by his talent when I saw him singing with a microphone and fronting a band with Mike. He was funny, kind, energetic, and smart. Take good care and cherish his memory.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Adrien. Losing family is never easy but, hopefully, the many marks of condolence and signs of affection at this time will be a source of consolation.

Saddened to learn of Adrien’s passing.
I have fond memories of school days at St. Bon’s , Brother Rice and University. We had lots of fun and good times, whether it be playing in the School band ( I believe Adrien’s first dabble in music ), playing hockey in high School, or just hanging out with friends , sharing experiences, laughs, and generating lots of great memories , that we still recount to this day.
Adrien was a talented and creative person and his sense of humour was second to none. He will certainly be missed , but never forgotten.

Sincere condolences to the Colohan family on your loss.

Deirdre
