Passed peacefully away on July 24, 2023, Alice Florence Clarke (Janes), aged 101 years, of Paradise NL.
Predeceased by her husband John Clarke, grandson Michael Gillingham, parents Bertram and Albertha Janes, son in law Dave Kennedy as well as a number of brothers and sisters.
Leaving to mourn children: Mervel (Marilyn), Doris, Tolson (Beth), Beverly (Jack), and Carol (Bruce). Grandchildren: Darryl, Craig (Cheryl), Corinna, David (Carol), Jamie, Tammy (Tim), Tasha (Elizabeth), John (Jessica), Melissa (Jason), John (Shauna), Benjamin (Emma), and Nicholas. Great grandchildren: Erin, Grace, Ryan, Chantel, Sarah, Braunwhyn, Carla, Cooper, Drew, Hayden, Brooklyn, and baby Gillingham due October. Great great grandchildren: Tania, Zander, Fiona, Thatcher, Everly, and Amaya.
Also leaving to mourn is Mom’s twin sister and lifelong best friend, Mabel Dawe of Long Pond, NL. Left with loving memories is Mom’s other best friend, her grand daughter Corinna, whose love, dedication and selfless giving surrounded Mom daily.
Mom had the best of care from the staff of 4SA at the HSC and we want to thank every one of you who spent time with her and with us, not just providing medical care but giving genuine support. Mom was an incredible woman, not just because of her age of 101 but because she didn’t believe in giving in or giving up. That strength will help us through these times.
Mom will be resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home on Freshwater Road from 1:00-9:00 PM Friday July 28/23. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday July 29/23 from The Carnell Memorial Chapel with internment to follow at Holy Innocents Cemetery, Paradise. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations to Children’s Wish Foundation in her memory are also welcome.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Alice passing away. She was and always will be my favorite aunt. She taught me how to be a good aunt, with all of her patience when I was a child. She played many games of cards with Mom and myself, and helped me learn how to count. I will always have happy loving memories because of her kind and gentle manner with me.
