Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother and Nanny, Anne O’Brien (nee Mullaly), on September 28, 2021, with her family by her side and surrounded by love. Predeceased by her devoted husband, Mike, and her daughter, Beverly. Loved and cherished by her children Michele (Len Coughlan), Mike (Shelley) and Chris (Adele). Nanny O’Brien will be forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Zac, Matty, Ben, Alex, Nicolas and Julie. Also leaving to mourn her sister in Halifax, Lillian Brown, and many special nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors in Special Care on 4 North B of the Health Sciences for their kindness and care. Mom loved her family with all her heart and has left us with so many wonderful memories. She will be missed more than words can ever express. Mom will be resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 2pm-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Pius X Church on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made in Mom’s memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, Power of Life, or a charity of one’s choice. Chris and all the O’Brien Family, just hearing of your sweet mother’s passing as I’m out of Province, there is so many nice things to say about your Mother Chris and so many great memories to when we were young kids to adults and so many stories, your Mom and my second Mom that I always called her was so outgoing and approachable to talk to, and times I receive good advice from her as I remember she was there for me a few times, my deepest condolences Chris as your Mother will always be remembered and hold a special place with me and our childhood memories take care and all the best to you and all your family.

We just read about your moms passing. What a beautiful woman she was. She always had a smile on her face every time we saw her. She loved cheering on her grandsons at the rink which makes her a true grandma for standing there for hours in the cold !! Our thoughts are with you,Len, Zack, Matthew and Ben.

Many weekend nights in the 80’s she would see us out the door, laughing while reminding us to be careful.. Her passion and commitment to her family never wavered even in the face of a parent’s worst nightmare. The picture chosen for her obituary is a beautiful reflection of the lovely lady she was.
