Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Archibald Edwards on March 10, 2024, age 83 years at the Palliative Care Unit, DR. L.A. Miller Centre. Predeceased by his wife Patricia (Farrell) Edwards, parents Archibald and Mildred (Connors) Edwards, brothers Richard and Eric and sisters Olive Garwell and Marg Duever.

Leaving to mourn his two sons Craig (Karen), Sean (Kim), three much loved grandchildren Lauren, Matthew and Sophie, brothers Patrick (Carmel), Arnold (Freda), sisters Eileen Freake (Garland), Alma Pike, Norma Strang, Mary Kardos, Millie Grant (Joe) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thank you to Eileen Pennell and Angela Afonso for their friendship over the last number of years, especially during Arch’s illness. Arch truly appreciated your friendship and support.

A special thanks to his home care worker Mildred for the care she provided to Arch during his last months.

Arch loved the ocean; he had many fond memories growing up in Lawn spending time with his father on his boat. He shared this love of the ocean with family and friends taking them on day trips around Conception Bay on his boat ‘Scruffy’. His greatest joy however, was his family, he cherished his grandchildren and was always quick to share a story of their accomplishments and what they were involved in.

To Craig, Sean & the Edwards family and friends. I am so sorry to learn of Uncle Arch’s passing. I remember him as a very kind, caring and compassionate man who was remarkably supportive to his family. I also remember how kind he was to me when I lived in Goose Bay as a youngster, and how he stood by our family at the
time of our loss there. It meant the world to my mother and father & my sisters. May your great memories of Uncle Arch comfort you & your families as you support each other during the celebration of his life and in the days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care.

So sad to hear about the passing of Arch . Our deepest sympathies to all the family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
