I was deeply saddened to have recently heard the news of Arnold’s passing. I had been trying to reach him for some time. My sincere condolences to all family.

Arnold was my friend and neighbor for many years. I will always treasure the memories of his friendship, his kindness, humor and wit, and the conversations we shared (he was a fountain of knowledge). He was one of the kindest souls I have known and he supported me through some difficult times. God bless you always, my dear friend.

We will miss you Arnold. You always had a kind word and a story. The world was made better by your presence. May you be at peace..

To Arnold’s family, having just read the many messages of condolences from local residents and beyond, it has all been said! Arnold you were missed over these past few months, missed but never to be forgotten or replaced! God’s Speed

Arnold was such a nice man. I got to know him when I lived by him near the beach. He was always out and about in the community. He was a staple at the St. Philips regattas. I tried to coerce him to row a race with me many times. He was well read and often tried to give me a history lesson that was over my head or provide me with some interesting fact that was relevant to the day with his contagious sense of humour. I’m glad that I got to know you Arnold. St. Philip s is at a great loss with you passing. Rest In Peace Arnold.

Dear Tucker Family,

Arnold was a fixture in St. Philips, and we loved having conversations with him. We liked his wit and modesty, and his concerns for the community. He was a true communal treasure. We’ll sourly miss him.

The Banzhaf Family

Peter,
I’m so sorry to hear of your brothers passing.

So sorry to hear of Arnold’s passing,my condolences to the families 🙏,, and I , like many people of Portugal Cove/St. Philip’s have stopped to pick up Arnold up on the road coming from St. Johns after getting groceries. I would always drive him right to his doorstep. It was never too much trouble to go out of your way for some of the kind heart and a smile on his face. He was always so thankful to be picked up. …..

A true and honest friend to the entire community. You will be sadly missed. Keep on laughing and being positive Arnold. RIP my friend.

Clo and Family

To all Arnold’s family. Very saddened to hear of his death. I missed seeing him going in Thorburn Road. Many a time I picked him up and brought him out to the Mall. His intellect and knowledge of the world were truly amazing . He was very well read and loved to get into a deep discussion. I really like the school picture in the obituary. That was the handsome little boy I remember from childhood . Our grandmothers were sisters, we all grew up and went to school here. Love to you all. God speed Arnold. May you rest in God’s peace, and rise in glory. Sincerely Charlie and Shirley Gosse. (Squires)

To all the family, our heartfelt condolences. He will surely be missed. Hugs.

I have so many good memories of growing up in St Phillips . How many Friday nights as a teenager did we walk to Portugal cove for a dance at Father Laceys ? . Arnold was in a lot of those good times .. No matter what we did Arnold was always the nicest guy there . I am lucky enough to have stopped down by the beach and talked to him several years ago while home from Ontario on vacation . He was still the nicest guy there . So long Onions it was a pleasure

Arnold will be greatly missed in his community. I am a neighbor and thought the world of him. He always had time for a chat and was generous with whatever he had. If he lcounted you as a friend, you were very lucky. He was loyal, kind and extremely smart. And his kindness to animals was something I always admired. I’m so glad I was able to recently see Arnold one more time in front of his house for a brief chat and a smile. I will miss Arnold very much.

So sorry to learn of Arnold’s passing , our sincere condolences to all his family, may he rest in peace.
