Obituary
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre after a lengthy illness at the age of 82.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 62 years, Beryl (nee Blackwood), son Baxter (Linda), son Laurie, daughter Lynn (Tony); grandchildren Daimek, Lexie, Anna, and Dale. Predeceased by his son Dale.
Basil came from a large family including many brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by his parents Cora and Melvin Worthman, brothers Ross, Ray, Melvin, Robert, and Wince; sisters Yvonne and Carrie. Basil will be fondly remembered by his brothers Hazen and Chris; sisters Mary (Henry), Sylvia, Marilyn, and Valerie, sister-in-law June, and niece Nancy and her girls. He will also be missed by many friends and neighbours on Thorburn Road, and family members too numerous to mention.
Basil was well-known for his knowledge of Toyota vehicles and his vast mechanical expertise. If he couldn’t fix your car, no one could. He will be missed by many of his long-time customers.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, June 12 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, June 13 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Basil’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
