Obituary

It is with much sadness as well as gratitude for her long life, we announce the passing of our mom Beatrice Gaze Mastropietro on April 6, 2021 in her 99th year. She was predeceased by her husband John Mastropietro in 1971, parents Ernest W. and Beatrice Gaze and her sister Patricia Gaze Gunn as well as special nephew Robert Godden and niece Elizabeth Ann Byrne.

She leaves to mourn her loving children John (Lorraine) Mastropietro and Linda Mastropietro (Jim Hearn). As well as her four grandchildren whom she adored and helped raise, Daniel Mastropietro (Naomi), John Ian Mastropietro (and their mother Linda Gunn), James Hearn and Matthew (Ellen) Hearn, three great grandchildren, Lillian Garrett, and Adam Mastropietro, and many great-nephews and nieces.

Beatrice was born and raised in St. John’s. She met her husband, John, during WWII. He was an American Soldier at Fort Pepperell. She left Newfoundland and lived her married life in New Jersey. In 1976 she returned to St. John’s to live with her sister, Peg.

She lived a wonderful life with grace and kindness and a quiet dignity. She played a hands-on role with all her grandchildren who treasured her presence throughout their lives.

A family service will take place at a later day.

In memory of her please do something kind for someone or donate to a charity of your choice.

She will be forever loved and in our hearts.
