Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Clarence. Left with beautiful memories are his wife of 27 years Valerie (Burke), his stepsons whom he loved dearly, Brad (Julie) and Mark (Ashley) Wilkins. His three precious grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face – Stella, Skye and Abigail. Predeceased by his first wife Betty (1992).

Leaving to mourn his sister Audrey Monk (Carl), brothers Robert (Sylvia), Alton (Doreen). Sisters-in-law Marylyn Murphy (Pat), Sharon Bense, Janine Fraser (Doug), Tanya Moore (Jay), Peg Smallwood (Mal), Jean Roberts & brothers-in-law Wayne Burke (Bernie) and Grant Burke (Bonny). Bonny was a very special niece to him.

A heartfelt thanks go to his devoted care giver Ola Rotimi, community nurse Pam Hunt, his Respirologist Dr. Vidyasankar, as well as his palliative paramedic team (especially Michelle and Steve) who went above and beyond to support Clarence and his family in his final days.

A special acknowledgement to the Hickman automotive group and family for a rewarding career and life long friendship.

Clarence was a gentle, loving soul. He will forever be loved.

Cremation has taken place & there will be a private family service & celebration of his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Clarence’s memory to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or The Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.

Valerie, Audrey and families. I was shocked to hear about Clarence’s passing on VOWR today. We hold such wonderful memories of being neighbours in Florida. We enjoyed great times and laughs together. It is with sadness that I read of Clarence passing away.I remember meeting him just after my father died, and that he remembered my family comming to Spencers Cove. My sincere condolences to his family.

I was lucky to have worked with Clarence for a number of years. His door was always open for advice and a smile or laugh. My condolences to his family and friends during this time. He was a kind person and I feel privileged to have known him.

The passing of Clarence leaves a very sad spot in my heart as he was one of my mentors thru my career with the Hickman Automotive Group. He was a wealth of knowledge and never made a decision without giving the situation great thought and consideration for all parties involved. As the saying goes – when the Lord made Clarence Hollett, he through away the mold. A great man and a great friend – he will be missed!

Our condolences to Clarence’s family & friends. Individuals like Clarence are to few , his calm demeanour allowed him to handle situations that came up with a “ cool “ we all wish we had , his approach to people made him so easy to like and his smile & laugh were infectious. Val and family, your gentle, kind and loving husband , father, and grandfather has left for a better place. We who knew him were blessed , and he was blessed with your love and caring.

His death made me feel the same way I felt when i lost my father 6yrs ago. I lost my energy, appetite and emotions. He was my gist partner, I feel comfortable discussing my personal issues with him.
