Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Collette Bennett Derrington (nee Sheppard), age 75 years, at the Health Sciences Centre on January 4th, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family.
Collette was a loving wife, mother, mother in-law, grandmother, sister and friend. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Greta (Normore) Sheppard and mother in-law Mona (Hird) Derrington.
Leaving to mourn with warm memories her husband and best friend of 41 years Arthur; her two beloved sons Brogan (Lindsey) and Trelyn; her adored grandchildren Rowan and Lily; her loving sisters, Cheryl Skanes (Jim), Valgene Tipple (David), Sonia Power (Michael), as well her nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, January 8th from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday January 9th at 12:00pm from St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Torbay with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made in her memory to the Health Sciences Centre or a charity of one’s choice.

My heart is broken to hear of Collette’s sudden passing. I am so happy we were all able to get together this summer. Heaven gained a beautiful angel .. Her kind and and gentle heart and loving ways will always be remembered. Gosh i never got any of her beautiful dish cloths this summer. I loved that she always gave me some. . Dear Cheryl; I was very shocked and saddened today to learn of Collette’s passing. I remember you both fondly from our high school days, so many years ago. I also recall hearing my Mom speak of you four girls (Greta’s girls) long before we actually met in high school. I send along my most sincere sympathies to you and your sisters and to all of Collette’s family.
Sorry to learn this sad news…. I remember as a young girl playing with the Sheppard sisters when we lived on King’s Ave on Bell Island. We moved to Kelligrews when I was young but I often thought about them .in these later years. My condolences to you Cheryl, Valgene and Sonia and all of Colllette’s family. Rest in peace Collette.

I am so sorry and shocked to hear of the passing of Collette.. My heart is aching for you all I know your Mom very well I have been doing her Manicures for the past 8 years and looked forward to our conversations as we would laugh often and talk about her family as she loved you all so very much..
