Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cyril C. Reid, surrounded by his family, on November 9, 2023, at the Health Sciences Centre, aged 78 years.
Predeceased by parents Douglas and Winnie; sister Effie Bursey; brother Elwood Reid; nephew Randy Bursey; father-in-law George Lockyer; brothers-in-law Morley Sooley, Florent Jacques, Bert Lockyer and Max Lockyer.
Leaving to mourn with precious memories wife Evelyn; daughter Kerri Hussey (Don); son Chad; granddaughter Courtney; brother Doug (Bessie); sisters Eileen Jacques, and Beverley Sooley; brother-in-law Max Bursey (Beverly); sister-in-law Joy Reid; Mother in law Mary Lockyer, sisters in law Vinie Hollett (Lambert – deceased), Myrtle Gregory (Wilson – deceased), Greta Giles (Roland), Olive Baker (Melvin), Phyllis Brinston (Todd) and brother in law Clyde Lockyer; as well as other family members and close friends.
Cyril’s heart was as vast as his love for Florida’s sunshine and the greens of the golf course. An enthusiast of wordplay, Cyril’s love for puns brought laughter to countless gatherings. His happy place was the shed, where he spent cherished moments with his regular crew, sharing stories and camaraderie.
Cyril found joy in every gathering, reveling in the company of family and friends. As we bid farewell, let us celebrate the warmth he brought to our lives and the enduring memories of laughter and love. May his spirit find peace, and may his legacy of joy live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Special thanks to The Health Science Emergency and Intensive Care Unit staff for their care and compassion during his short stay.
Visitation will be held from Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, November 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday, November 13 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funeral service will take place from Carnell’s Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 13 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, St. Philip’s.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
