Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Philip Dowden, at the age of 73 years. David passed away in the presence of his family.
He is predeceased by his parents Jack and Eva Dowden.
Left with fond and cherished memories are his wife of 53 years Isabel (Bragg); his children Robbie (Tracy), Kimberley (Terry) John; his furry friends Paddy, Lexi, Mia, Blackie, whom he loved dearly; his grandchildren Brianna, Tyler, Liam, Ryland (Vicky Gosse); Dave’s siblings Mabel Buckle, Linda (Wayne Jackman), Wayne Dowden (Marion), Sandra Breman, Debbie Dowden.
Two special friends Dave had, they will cherish their jokes and pranks that they played on one another, Colin Brophy and Kevin Lewis.
Dave took to the Trucking Industry at a young age, as he followed in his father’s footsteps. He took pride in every job he took on with professionalism. In 2019 Dave was awarded Driver of the Year from APTA. He worked with East Can Transport since 2003. This was the same time he became a member of the Just for Kids Transportation group, and raised money every year for the Janeway Telethon (Teddy Bear Convoy). His leadership will definitely be missed.
The family would like to thank Susan Christopher, Jessie Anstey for their compassion and devotion in Dave’s illness.
The family will be accepting visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home at 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday February 24 from 10am-9pm. Please note that Carnell’s is a nut free building, due to a staff member with a severe allergy. Thank you so much for your cooperation. Inurnment will be held at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road, on Tuesday February 27th at 10:00 a.m.

My sincere condolences to Dave’s family and friends upon his passing. I knew Dave primarily through the old car hobby, and as the friendly professionsl driver who delivered cars to me from Eastcan. He was a very nice guy, a true gentleman in every way.

I can remember being in bull arm with you . I can distinctly remember when the cafeteria was getting close to closing time , you and your crew would roll in from having a few pre-supper drinks, always happy , laughing and carrying on.
It was always a pleasure running into you every now and then for a chat.
