Obituary

Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on December 29, 2021 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, at the age of 73.

Left with beautiful memories are his loving wife of 45 years Pauline Oakley, sons David and Derek Oakley, daughters Linda Reynen and Amanda Oakley (Chad Delaney), and his two precious grand-daughters who always brought a smile to his face, Amber Oakley and Kylie Delaney.

Also leaving to mourn brothers-in-law Jack and Les Fitzpatrick (Nora), sisters-in-law Joan Oakley, Cellia and Ann Fitzpatrick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He will be sadly missed by his hunting and fishing buddies Dave Oliver (Del) and Bert Long (Hazel).

Predeceased by his beloved parents George and Delphine Oakley, brothers Lloyd and Gary Oakley, father and mother-in-law Arthur and Annie Fitzpatrick, brothers-in-law Gabe (Lil), Gord, Frank, Pad and Vince Fitzpatrick and sister-in-law Eileen Fitzpatrick.

Dave was an honorable man, husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He lived a fulfilling life and displayed unfathomable strength and integrity. His sharp wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Entrusted into the care of Carnell’s Funeral Home, as per Dave’s wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or service and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sincere condolences to the family. I have fond memories of Dave (and the Oakley family) from growing up in Rabbittown as well as working with him in the early mid 70’s. I was very sorry to hear of his passing.
