Kyle,, although your name was not included in the obituary (an error for which I assume full , and sincere responsibility) you are one with our family.

Your elegant condolences , and your recall of the star-nosed mole escapades brings the tears and will be shared by many who knew him.

Thank you a thousand times,
Your Uncle Scott *

Nina so sorry to hear of Dee’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep all of your good memories close to your heart, they’ll get you through the rough days. RIP Dee.

To Nina and to Scott,

Deeply saddened to hear of uncle Dee’s passing.

During the times that I was able to meet him during family visits, I feel I was too young to truly appreciate the entirety of his character.

I’ll always fondly remember the childhood experience of his entertaining line, “I’m a star-nosed mole!” in coordination with his comical imitation of the creature, conducted by bringing both hands to his face and wiggling his fingers around.

His presence cultivated a very warm, welcoming, and jovial atmosphere which was a always pleasure to be around.

He carried the fullness of the Newfoundland spirit within him, and a part of me will always long for the chance to have lived a life closer to the sea where I might have been able to revel in that spirit through his love of music.

Wishing you courage to weather the storm in true Strong fashion, with much love from your nephew.

Kyle

Nina, so sorry to hear about Dee. Take care.

Nina, I am so sorry to hear of Dee’s passing. I hope your many special memories will bring you comfort. I am thinking of you and sending you much love and strength.💕

Nina and family ,
We are out of the country now and are late to the news that Dee is no longer with us. It has been several years since we last conversed, I guess that comes with retirement and changes in life activities. When we did meet in the past I really enjoyed it immensely. He was one of the best to know. Rest in peace brother.

Very sorry to hear that Derek had passed away. We knew Derek and Nina as wonderful neighbours when we lived in that part of town. Kind condolences to Nina and the extended family.

So sorry to hear about Dee’s passing. A great friend to all in the NL Engineering community and someone who always had a kind word for all. Sadly missed.

Sincere condolences go out to Derek’s family. I met Derek some 6 years ago when I joined the Remax curling club. He was such a warm welcoming gentleman in every way. He will be deeply missed on the rink.

Nina, so sorry to hear of Dee’s passing. Robyn and my thoughts are with you.

I met Dee when I met Bob. Those two were friends forever and Bob has been heartbroken to think his friend is no longer on our planet. Dee was there more than 30 years ago on the week before I went into labour to deliver our twin girls, Marianne and Emily, who always thought of him as an Uncle. We still have a picture of our babies in his garden.

Over the years, Dee would visit Montreal. Often in June, for a stop before heading to play golf at Tremblant.

Dee and Nina came to Montreal many times and together we enjoyed dinners and walks in the city such as a stroll in Little Italy during a Ferragosto festival. In 2014, Dee and Nina travelled to Big Italy with us. We stayed in a small Tuscan Hill town. Dee enjoyed watching the fireflies at night before heading to bed. He loved reading the morning paper on a sunny terrasse in Montespertoli where we shared an espresso and a pastry. In Florence, the Galileo Galilei Museum was a favorite for both Dee and Bob.

This past summer, we thankfully drove to Newfoundland and spent time at the Blue House and in St-John’s. We are very grateful to have had that time together.

Dee and Nina will always be members of our close family circle. Dee is already deeply missed. His kindness resonates in so many of his friends’ words. It feels strange and lonely to think of a world without him. But, I’m sure, somehow, Dee is looking over us from up in the sky with a few cats surrounding him with love.

Nina you have our deepest condolences.

Nina, since i met you guys, it had always been “Nina and Dee”. What a beautiful loving people I met !
It is gonna be strange next i will come for visit. I( and Lyla) wish him to be in peace and WE are sending you lots of Love.
Nelly

We are very sorry to hear about Dee. He was a great guy – one we were happy to know. His warmth and sense of humour will be remembered.

‘Uncle Dee’ will always have special place in my memory. From being amazed by his banjo as a kid, giving me good advice during a tough time, always being a great friend to my dad, and that constant wisdom behind his eyes. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences on the lost of your kind, gentle, loving spouse. I’ve known Dee since kindergarten, through to MUN Engineering and of course ESN. He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Words fail me, but those of Kahlil Gibran fit: “Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.”

Nina and Family – God give you strength and solace in the warmth of the friends who love you.

So sorry to hear of Dee’s passing,. I have many fond memories of him and the rest when I stayed with Uncle Col & Aunt Nellie my first year at MUN., it was always a joy to see him on the odd occasion that we did in the years since. Our condolences to you all..

Nina, Scott, & Peter –
So sorry to hear of the passing of “Rickey” (perhaps I was the only one to still call him Rickey from our times together in 1960’s — pre-university). Our chance meetings were always a delight; a high point of the day; a shame our busy lives kept us from planning get-togethers. I have no doubt that you will be comforted by the memories of happy times
Carl (& Ella) Strong, Corner Brook & Mount Pearl.
