Funeral Service for the late Donna Short
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Short at her residence on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, in her 69th year.
Donna was predeceased by her husband Fraser; father Allan; and brother Randy.
Leaving to mourn are her son Shawn; granddaughter Natalie; mother Ruby Phelan; sisters and brothers Gloria Hynes (Howard); Derek (twin brother), Michael (Marilyn), Gary (Christine), Betty Oliver (Ernie), Linda Doran (Ed), Michelle Quilty (Maurice) and Wanda Fitzpatrick (Barry). Also leaving to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Mike and Des (Krista). Also, Georgina Short (Louise) and all members of the Short Family.
The family will be accepting visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. from 10:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday April 4th. The funeral service at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 5th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. With an inurnment to follow at the Columbarium in the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Rd.
Flowers gratefully accepted, or you may make a donation in Donna’s name to a charity of ones choice.
Please note that Carnell’s Funeral Home is a nut free building, due to a staff member with a severe allergy. Thank you for your cooperation.

My deepest condolences to Shawn and family. I had the privilege of working with Donna for many years at the Health Sciences. She was the hardest worker and so so kind to all of the patients. Everyone loved her! She was very proud of her son and spoke of you all the time…. You brought much joy into her life.
Very sorry I missed the wake and service but just found out from colleagues.

So sad to hear of Donna’s passing ,she was the first person to train me when I first stated in psychiatry first thing she showed me was our fill up closet then she said we are going to have a smoke first and her cup of coffee. Such good memories R.I.P Donna. God Bless

So sorry to hear of Donna’s passing. I worked with Donna while in housekeeping at the HSC. She was always nice to me and so friendly. I remember that she was a hard one to catch, those tiny legs could go miles.

Aunt Ruby, Shawn, Derek, Gloria, Mike, Gary, Betty, Linda, Michelle, Wanda and families – so sad to hear of Donna’s sudden passing – my heart aches for you all as you go through this difficult. We enjoyed the chance to have a chat and catch up with her last August. Even though few years between us, I remember Donna since we were teenagers;( maybe even younger when she would take us blueberry picking with her – she knew all the good spots). Always a hard worker and very kind hearted. Hugs to you all. Xx

To My Nanny and my cousin,
My heart is with you as you mourn this loss. It’s been a minute since I’ve been on the Rock but I remember Aunt Donna very well from our yearly trips home. She was always very nice and oddly quiet for a Phelan woman. There are no words that will make the pain go away but please take solice in the family that surrounds you. May you find peace in knowing she is at peace now.
