It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear son and brother Duane on November 5th, 2021, at the age of 56 after fighting a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Predeceased by his grandparents Arthur and Minnie Bishop, and grandparents Leander and Marjorie Peach.

Left with fond and loving memories are his mother, Maude Peach; father, Chesley Peach; sister, Denease Butt (Paul); aunts, Olive Verge, Linda McCormick (Michael), Pearl Bishop, Karen Peach (Harry), and Betty Bishop (Eric, deceased); uncles, Claude Bishop (Marilyn), Lloyd Bishop, John Bishop (Emma), and Roy Peach (Gerri); as well as many more family and friends.

Duane was an electrician and spent many years working in Ottawa, traveling to and from Alberta, and in our lovely province at Long Harbour and Muskrat Falls. He had an ear for music, playing both piano and guitar, enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, art and learning the history. He also liked to play golf with his buddies and enjoyed spending time at his “summer place” in Brigus Junction.

God saw Duane getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around him, and He whispered “Come to Me.”

As were Duane’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, November 8th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Gower Street United Church on Tuesday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Donations in Duane’s memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre or to The Gathering Place.

Dear Ches, Maude and Denease,

Sel and I were so very sorry to hear of Duane’s passing. It’s never easy to loose someone…and it seems like the universe gets turned upside down when that someone is a dearly loved son and brother. But with the grace of God and with time, the universe will right itself again and that ache you have in your hearts right now will be filled with fond memories of Duane, laughs thinking of the fun times you had and a love for Duane that grows with each passing day. Knowing that Duane is finally at peace now will help you begin your healing process. Please know that the both of us are here for you if there is anything at all we can do to hasten your universe righting itself!

Maude,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your son. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

Maude I was so sorry to hear about Duanes passing. He is at peace now and released from all his pain. I don’t know if you remember but we chatted on the parking lot of Shoppers drug mart last week and you told me what a hard time you were having. I am so sorry for your loss. I wanted to let you know that I prayed for you both and will continue to do so. I hope your many happy memories will help to ease your pain and with time they will bring a smile to your face. Take care and God bless.

Duane was a great friend and landlord and will be sadly missed. He was always up for a chat and a laugh. He had a very positive philosophy on life and he shared that with all that he befriended. The world was a little richer for having known him and now a little smaller with his passing. He will be forever remembered fondly. Rest in Peace Duane and my heartfelt condolences to his friends and family.
